Subfloor is in!!! Fireplace will be covered up today! I’ll be painting this place by Monday!

SO EXCITED!!! Look 👀at the progress!
❕The floor joists are almost done being installed!!!!🥳😆🥳
❕Sliding glass door frame has been moved up to be the appropriate height for the new floor.

If you’re wondering what this phase of the project entails...I’ll explain:
.
Our house was built in 1966...Every room was separate and lacked functionality for a modern family who loves to entertain.
.
To make matters worse, the family room is (was) about 8 inches lower than the rest of the house (no it wasn’t an addition, it’s also not the standard height of a step so it’s a bit of a tripping hazard).
.
So once the wall separating the dining room and living room came down we couldn’t wait to get moving on the rest of the project!

So this happened yesterday!

Phase 2 of our renovations is starting sooner than we anticipated (YAAAAY!!!)...TODAY!🥳

In preparation for the work to beginning today, my husband removed the hearth and brick surrounding the fireplace and we combined TWO rooms full of furniture into ONE (this is when I get to show off my Tetris skills 😆).

Wish us luck...all of this craziness while we both still work full time, with 2 littles.

The Grindstone Contruction Zone...it’s all about transformation

Got it done today! Finished painting my living room (finally). New curtains and curtain rod installed too.

After taking down the wall that separated what was our “formal” dining room and our living room (phase 1 of reno), we’ve changed how we use the spaces making it more functional for our family. Whenever we’re done with our renovations the China cabinet and wine glass rack won’t stay here forever but for now...it works.

CANNOT WAIT to get a new sofa tho! (one day😆, when this project is over)

Finally putting some paint on the walls!...this is big because I haven’t painted the main living spaces of our house since we bought it almost 3 years ago. Phase 1 almost done! So much more painting to be done.....

Although I still enjoy painting furniture & giving pieces a new life, I won’t be refinishing anymore furniture, at least foreseeable future. 💗💗💗
