Set within our Sunset Beach project, this bedroom was designed to flow seamlessly with the rest of the unit, yet stand apart. A little moodier and grounded in an elevated 1960s aesthetic that feels nostalgic without being literal.

The black and white photograph above the bed is the heart of the space. It’s Suncoast Surf Shop in 1966, one of the oldest surf shops in the area, back when the floor was still sand. Sitting out front is Joe. I knew Joe personally from teaching Monday night paddleboarding with Suncoast, and he loved Sunset Beach deeply.

Joe once owned a unit in this very condo complex, so creating this room became an unspoken homage to him, to surf culture, to Sunset Beach, and to a slower, more soulful era.

This unit leans into the darker side of the coast.
Moody. Dramatic. Quietly grounded.

Inspired by the nighttime atmosphere of the beach, deep indigo organic grasscloth takes center stage bringing depth, texture, and movement, while soft natural linens and warm light wood tones create balance and ease. Leather appears throughout the space, adding richness, warmth, and a lived-in softness that grounds the drama and invites a modern touch.
