We delivered the kitchen island to its new home yesterday. This one took a while to get done, but our customer was thrilled to get it. The rolling metal base was provided by our customer along with some concept drawings. We took it from there. Everything except the drawer boxes is mesquite with the top and drop leafs using book matched boards. Due to the weight we had broken this piece down into seven pieces and reassembled everything onsite. I also put a 12×14 inch end grain mesquite cutting board together as a bonus gift.
We also were able to see some of our other projects in use. Two headboard's and a night stand, along with a mounting board for a metal art piece the customer had done many years ago. It was a great trip and a fun day.
I added one more picture I left off on the backside, a knot that recieved a nice arrowhead.😁

Over the last several years we've made quite a few pieces of furniture ranging from rocking chairs to an assortment of tables. Lot's of crosses, serving trays, charcuterie boards, hundreds of oven squirrels, ect...
But it's been many years since I had done a cutting board....until last week. This was for a friend and I enjoyed doing it, plus I'm pleased with the outcome. It's about 14"×12½"×1¼ mesquite end grain and finished with mineral oil.
Should I consider adding these to our lineup in the future?🤔

Finishing up a project I've been working on for a while.
This custom kitchen island with a beautiful bookmatched top and two bookmatched drop leaf's make this piece stand out.
My customer provided the custom base and it is a great foundation for the mesquite. The two drawers glide in and out on soft close slides.
I even managed to add a nice flint point into a knot hole in the drawer base!
The blue tape is being used for final alignment and will be coming off.😁

I've been working on several things lately but haven't really had anything to share, but this seemed share worthy. These are two mesquite drop leaf's and the center framework for a larger project I'm working on. One of my favorite stages of a mesquite project is when that first coat of finish is applied. So here is a set of before and after pictures. Keep watching for more on this special project. 😁

I love mesquite, it's a beautiful wood! But then there is mesquite burl 🤯! Then the beautiful factor goes up 10x!! Check out this piece, it was the base to a display stand I did for a friend.🤗😁

This was an unexpected but very appreciated bonus that came out of our mesquite burl bear carving project. Mesquite is not a wood you normally see as a medium for a chainsaw sculpture, but after seeing the outcome I thik it should be. What do y'all think?🤔

We are still very pleased with the job our chainsaw artist did on this special mesquite burl a year ago. From the moment I saw this burl come of the trailer I knew what I wanted to do with it. But it took several years to find the right person to nake that vision a reality. Everyone that sees 👀 this amazing sculture is amazed by this combination of art and nature. So enjoy some pictures of the transformation. 😁

I'm out in the shop today enjoying the 91⁰ weather, which is pretty cool for this time of the year in South Texas. I think the heat index right now is 98⁰....still not bad for July. It's a beautiful day and the sky all around is great!!
