What appears to be a simple black layer is one of the most important elements inside a Hästens bed.

Each strand of horsehair has a naturally hollow structure, allowing air to circulate while carrying moisture away from the body. Beneath it, individually hand-tied springs respond independently to pressure, allowing the shoulders and hips to settle without disrupting the rest of the surface.

This precise relationship between airflow and responsive support creates the sensation of weightlessness.
