What is the foundational step of a great joining? We are glad you asked. Blue Snow joins multiple slabs or slabs and lumber together on a weekly basis. Our craftsmen make a couple passes to cut through the slabs (so they do not go through blades too fast), and then they make a couple more passes to confirm the cut is completely clean. If you do not make additional passes with your saw, there will be slight lines from where you made those initial cuts. Those lines will cause gaps when you try to join your materials. In our last reel, we talked about what we look for when we pick a log to mill. This reel has is a very abbreviated show of Collin milling this amazing English Walnut log. English Walnut has beautiful chocolate grain that is becoming a client favorite.

On first glance, Burl tables seem pretty straightforward, but burls often have a large amount of small cracks and voids that need to be stabilized with resin. The Blue Snow team went over these burls over the course of a couple days to be certain that every tiny void was properly taken care of. Our burls make beautiful bistro, coffee, and dining tables. "Does the finish change the color of the slabs?" - this is one question our team gets asked on a regular basis. We use a clear finish that does not change the color of the slabs you like so much. The finish is multipurpose; it provides protection from minor scratches and scuffs and enriches color of the grain. It's Friday!! Enjoy one of the resin pours going into this slab. This White Oak slab has a lot of cracks to fill with many of them being very small. In preparation of having the cover so much of the surface area with resin, our team shellaced the slab to prevent any of the resin dye from staining. Follow along to see this project completed!
