That cheap can of paint might be the most expensive one in the store.

Here's the truth. A higher price doesn't always mean a better product. But with paint, the price usually reflects what's inside the can.

Premium paints are made with more of the ingredients that matter: better pigments and stronger binders that give you:
✅ Richer, more even color
✅ Better coverage (often fewer coats)
✅ A finish that's easier to clean and slower to fade

Budget paint can look fine on day one. The difference shows up a few years later, when you're repainting sooner than you planned.

Spend a little more upfront, repaint a lot less often. That's real value.

20 years in Kansas City homes, and there's one step we've never skipped. Not even when a customer asked us to.

It's PREP.

Washing, scraping, caulking, and priming make up most of the labor on a quality paint job, and almost none of it is visible once the job is finished. That's why it's the first thing to go when a bid needs to come in cheaper.

So if you're comparing quotes and one is dramatically lower, it's worth asking what's been left out.

Proper prep is the reason paint lasts. It's also why we're able to stand behind every job with a 5-year warranty.

How much does it cost to paint a house in Kansas City? 🏠 Everyone wants to know. Nobody wants to ask. So we're just going to tell you.

There's no flat price because there's no standard house. Six things move your number: square footage, how many stories, siding material, one coat or two, a color change vs. a refresh – and the big one: wood rot hiding under old paint. You can't price rot until you're close enough to touch the trim.

Before you call for a painting quote, have these ready:
✔️ Rough square footage
✔️ How many stories
✔️ When it was last painted
✔️ Any soft or peeling trim you've spotted

Your guests are never going to see your primary bedroom. 👀

But they'll walk through your entryway. Use your powder room. Hang a coat in your mudroom. Put a hand on the stairwell wall on the way up.

Those are the rooms taking the most abuse in the whole house – shoes, bags, dogs, laundry baskets, twenty years of fingerprints at the exact same height on the exact same wall. And they're the last rooms anybody thinks to repaint.

Here's what makes them worth doing: they're small. Which makes them the cheapest and fastest rooms in your house to completely change. Most of these are a one-day job.

Saturday reset, but make it permanent.

You've done the version that lasts a weekend - candle lit, blanket folded, everything in its place by Sunday afternoon. Then Monday arrives, and the room goes back to being a room.

Some resets don't undo themselves. A soft sage wall, warm light coming through linen, and suddenly the space holds the calm instead of you having to keep putting it there.
