Well, I’m at it again. Last spring our barn burned down and I lost most of my inventory. I was a little discouraged and not really sure if I wanted to start my painting again. Well, I had a couple pieces in my garage that did not burn, so I decided to get my rear in gear and get painting again, and I love it. I just finished these two pieces today. There’s a couple more pieces that will show up here again over the next couple of weeks.

I came upon a treasure. This is a Mid-century Haywood Wakefield dresser. I’m guessing the year to be around the 1950’s. The Heywood furniture manufacturer was established in 1897, they specialized in making furniture out of solid Northern Yellow Birch. The furniture trade mark is being stained in Wheat, a slightly darker stain or Ch*****ne, a paler hue. This piece would be an investment in quality and history, with exceptional craftsmanship, durability and resiliency .
I have this dresser sanded down to the bare birch wood. I am going to advertise this piece with no stain, so the potential buyer can choose the stain. I have found a company that actually sells the Haywood stain. In my research on this piece they sell anywhere between $1200-$2000.
The cost is attributed to the quality of construction and uniqueness of the birch wood. Also the commitment to originality. This company has a long history with many pieces still being sold today.

Well, maybe it is the Dutchie in me, but man do I ever love this color!!! This lady was pretty beat up, but with a little TLC she looks almost brand new again!!

Well, Dutchie is back at it finally!!! My husband and I were in a terrible car accident in January, so it has been a slow recovery process. He still has a long way to go. He literally had almost everything on him broken but his right leg. My lower back was broke and I got shaken really good. But here we are still alive, God is faithful!!! So my goal is get back into painting again. My back only tolerates a hour or two a day. So this is my first project. I think it turned out pretty good. The chairs especially turned out super cute.

This turned out cute! I needed to remove some broken trim and Bondo some broken edges. But I love this new color, Simply Sage from Heirloom tradition paint. I placed sticky wallpaper on the inside and cleaned up the glass. I was going to remove the glass and replace it with chicken wire, but the glass was built into the doors. So I’ll get it on market place and hope that other’s love this color as much as I do!

I told you, you would see this color again!!! I love it!!! Here is the second waterfall dresser I bought to restore. I had to replace the hardware on the top drawer, but was able to clean up and restore the original wooden hardware on the bottom three drawers. I painted the top and stained the top.

Going back to the classic colors again. This beautiful Kincaid dresser/nightstand set got a make over in Iron Gate, with Walnut Gel Stain. I replaced all the old dated hardware with new modern gold hardware.

I am totally obsessed with this color, only to discover it has been discontinued. Oh well, thankfully this paint goes a long way! You’ll see this color pop up a couple more times. This sorry old dresser got a serious make over, I love how the gold hardware pops against the blue.

I bought two of the waterfall dressers to restore. This one was in pretty good shape. I was able to stain the top and drawers to keep the pretty design and add a white base as a contrast. Thankfully I was able to clean and paint the original, cool hardware.
