Bittersweet updates from the shop this week.

At Dan’s Outdoor Furniture, we’ve always said our business is a true family affair. From the time our boys were small, they started out with simple jobs like sweeping the shop floors, learning the value of honest hard work.

For the last 20 years, my son Levi Anderson has been right here beside me, pouring his heart, hard work, and incredible craftsmanship into every picnic table, chair, and swing that leaves our shop in Spencer. He’s grown from a boy learning the ropes into the absolute backbone of our daily operations. If you own a piece of our Western Red Cedar furniture, there's a very good chance Levi’s hands helped build it to last. Next week, Levi is trading the sawdust and cedar for a uniform as he officially leaves for the US Air Force.

This comes right on the heels of another big family milestone—his younger brother Noah also left to join the US Air Force back in July of this year. With both of my boys stepping up to serve our country, the shop is going to be incredibly quiet.

Leaving Dad all alone to do the building is definitely going to be a brand-new challenge, but Rhonda and I couldn't possibly be prouder of the men they have become. We know they are both going to carry the same integrity, dedication, and work ethic they showed here at the workbenches into their military service.

Levi, thank you for 20 years of hard work, laughs, and shared memories next to the workbench. Go do great things. We love you and we've got your back!

Please join us in wishing Levi the absolute best as he begins this next chapter, and keeping both of our boys in your prayers!
