Proud to share a recent project from the Lathe & Lumber workshop.
This solid walnut box started as a single block of wood, and after hours on the CNC, detailed laser engraving, and a hand-applied shellac, it’s now an heirloom piece. Inside, it holds The Imposter Kings, a card game created by a close entrepreneurial friend.
This project represents everything I love about woodworking: honoring the raw beauty of walnut, combining modern precision with traditional finishing, and building something meant to last generations.
What do you think, should I make more custom game boxes like this?

Built a custom pen blank for this chakra-inspired pen made of 7 dyed spalted tamarind segments with 1mm aluminum spacers. The first glue-up with aluminum failed as I didn't rough up the aluminum. Got it on the second try. The aluminum spacers were drilled and turned on the lathe without much resistance, although the shavings were a little on the warm side. :)
I have enough material to craft 2 more chakra-inspired pens and have 2 chrome PSI Fidget Twist Pen kits on order.

Welcome to Lathe & Lumber!
I'm a technologist during the day, woodworker & maker by night, calling the Pacific Northwest my home.
After over two decades of startups, building enterprise software, and leading product teams, I discovered the joy of making physical products—turning exotic wood on a lathe and designing products that will stand the test of time.
Here, you’ll find handcrafted items that reflect my commitment to quality, innovation, and an eye for detail. Each creation tells a story, from the choice of lumber to the final finish. More than just home goods, these are pieces meant to delight and inspire for years to come.
Thank you for visiting Lathe &Lumber. I’m grateful for the chance to share my craft with you!
