It feels good to be back home in Mississippi. This week is filled with floral prepping for a special bride and groom. Cannot wait to share the process and the ladies helping out this week.

It’s been very quiet on my feed here. For the past few months I’ve been quietly spending the days with my family; gardening, helping my daughter learn to ride a bicycle, staying up too late catching fire flies with the girls. Along with the slower summer days I’ve been reading and listening to lectures and podcasts from black leaders and writers and also engaging in much needed discussions. Looking back I’m seeing that I was taught the Eurocentric history narrative, especially in my Mississippi studies class in high school, and questioning why I only first had a discussion in an academic setting when I took a Southern Studies class in college and learned another narrative, one of the brutality and lynchings that took place in my home state and how Mississippi has the highest number of lynching in America!!! I’m so ashamed of so much I did not know. And I must do the work and research. There’s so much to mourn, to weep, and for us all to ask what can we do and NOT do to love and really support our black brothers and sisters. I’ve been afraid to say the wrong thing and having to swallow that, but something must be said. I am on this lifelong journey praying and asking for guidance for the Lord to break down my own barriers. I will never have anything new to say on this, but want to help direct to great voices that have been transforming me and my family:

Pretties from the garden. 💕

When the azaleas were blooming a few weeks ago I recalled a photograph of when she was a young girl, standing in a sea of azaleas with her family in Savannah, GA. I created this in response to her photograph that was tucked away in my memory. I wish you could inhale the sweet aroma. Love you friend. 💕🌊

I have always wanted to be a student of , and when I saw Nicolette was offering a Dutch Masters floral tutorial during quarantine, I thought this was a perfect time. I was excited to participate since demands at home haven’t allowed me to attend her workshops in person. Thank you Nicolette for sharing your approach and knowledge. Cheers to the beauty of unfurled flowers before their last breath. 🖤

🌈 arrangement in a different light. Remember the story I posted of the 40 minute slow motion video I created of arranging Saint Linda? Well offered to edit the video. When it started to unfold into a larger endeavor and I mentioned not to bother. Mary’s response was “I’m doing this: kindness”. So thank you Mary and check out my stories to see the rescued work. Whenever I try to post as a post weird things happen. 🤪 The smallest gestures of kindness go so far these days. Here’s to creating in isolation.
