My first job in the aircraft detailing and cleaning industry was in 1998, at SJU Airport in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. Back then, my passion for detailing airplanes and cars was just beginning, since, where I grew up, I would see my friends and my father cleaning their cars on Saturdays and Sundays; that’s where my passion for detailing began. And since 2021, I’ve been in the industry, and we’ve never stopped learning about products and techniques—and getting certified as detailers.🚘🛩️🚁🫡

Por aquel entonces, mi pasión por el detallado de aviones y autos acababa de empezar, ya que, en el lugar donde crecí, veía a mis amigos y a mi padre limpiando sus autos los sábados y domingos; ahí fue donde surgió mi pasión por el detallado. Y desde 2021, estoy en el sector, y nunca hemos dejado de aprender sobre productos y técnicas, ni de obtener certificaciones como detallistas. 🚘🛩️🚁

Can I Wax Aircraft under the Sun?

While you can technically wax aircraft paint in the Florida sun, it is strongly discouraged. High heat and direct sunlight cause waxes to dry prematurely, leading to streaking, difficult removal, and poor protection. Working in shade or early morning is ideal to prevent uneven curing and damage to the finish.

Key Considerations for Florida Sunshine:

Rapid Drying: Heat (and Florida’s high heat in makes wax cure too fast, creating streaks and tough-to-remove residue.
Application Tips: If you must work in the sun, use high-quality, sun-safe synthetic sealants or specially formulated wax applied in very small sections to avoid premature drying.
Best Practices: Work early in the morning or under a canopy/hangar whenever possible to ensure a proper, smooth finish.
Protection: Use products with UV inhibitors to protect against Florida's harsh sun and salt.

For best results, avoid working on hot metal panels
which can cause wax to break down immediately.
