This one is in the books! Painted the base but the soft maple top is finished with a few coats of High Performance Satin. I’ve used this water-based finish on a few projects and always get great results.
Turning a long time hobby into work I’m passionate about.

Just over saving toddler heads and thick thighs.

Got the breadboard ends on and filled the pin holes in with CA glue. Not much more to go on this table top.

After flattening the table top and the initial rough sanding, now it just needs breadboard ends. And of course, more sanding.

Out with the old switch, and in with the new! Of all the tools I own, this 1973 Craftsman table saw is my most prized possession. It belonged to my grandfather, and although I’ve made some updates, the bones remain the same. It cuts true and is built solid.

I like math, but I love shortcuts. The table I’m building is going to have angled legs, but I want the underside of the tabletop to be 30” off the ground. On the jig I made for the legs, I measured 30 inches up perpendicular to the bottom edge and used a carpenter square to make the mark. So easy. Thanks to Caleb with for the tip!

After planing and doweling the top pieces, it was time for the glue up!

Another table in the works. Gotta love the visual character of this soft maple.

Not much happening around the workshop in December because my whole house was sick. Thankfully we’re all almost back to being fully healthy again. Santa did drop this nice upgrade off though!! This thing suuuuuuuucckkss!! My lungs are very appreciative. I also didn’t realize how loud my shop vac setup was until running this.

The table is finished! The top is in place and attached to the base using drawboring.

Got the pieces of the base over to the customer’s and assembled. I used the same drawboring technique used previously to join the pieces together with a nice snug fit. After getting the top on and using the same technique to attach the top and base, I’ll cut the dowels flush.
