Anthony Sparrow came to The Father Center of New Jersey with one goal in mind: to secure stable employment and create a better future for himself. Through his work with Case Manager Monique Jackson, along with his determination, dedication, and goal-driven mindset, Anthony not only secured stable employment but also received multiple job offers along the way.

The Father Center was proud to support Anthony by providing work clothing and encouraging him throughout his employment journey. His commitment to success has not gone unnoticed, and we are excited to share that Anthony will soon be enrolled in our CDL program, taking another important step toward advancing his career.

Anthony’s journey is a wonderful example of what determination, hard work, and the right support can accomplish. The Father Center is proud of his progress and looks forward to cheering him on as he continues to reach new milestones!

The Father Center (TFC) is excited to share the success of our second Conversations on Canvas class! This unique program continues to provide participants with a welcoming and relaxing environment where they can express themselves, connect with others, and enjoy the benefits of creativity and open conversation.

Our Career Coach, Brian Wingate, did an excellent job once again facilitating the class and creating a comfortable space for participants to engage in meaningful discussions. Participants had the opportunity to share their thoughts, talk about different topics, listen to one another, and take a break from the everyday challenges they may face.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Steve Drake from the Tenacre Foundation, who stopped by The Father Center to observe the class. We appreciate his visit and his interest in seeing firsthand how this program is making a positive impact on our participants.

We are proud to see Conversations on Canvas continuing to grow and look forward to future classes filled with creativity, connection, and meaningful conversations.

At The Father Center, we believe that sometimes a little creativity, an open conversation, and a supportive environment can make a big difference.

The excitement is building at The Father Center of New Jersey as we welcome our next group of participants in the Drive2Independence program!

This group is focused on working toward an important milestone: getting their driver’s licenses and taking another step toward independence!

At The Father Center, we understand that having a driver’s license is about more than just driving. It can open doors to new employment opportunities, make it easier to get to work, help participants access essential resources, and create greater stability for themselves and their families.

Through Drive2Independence, we are proud to support our participants as they build confidence, work toward their goals, and overcome barriers that may have held them back.

Every step forward matters, and we are excited to be part of this journey. We look forward to celebrating each participant’s progress and, ultimately, seeing more of our men behind the wheel and moving toward a brighter future.

At The Father Center, we believe that independence creates opportunities, and opportunities can change lives! Let’s cheer on our next Drive2Independence group!

We are proud to announce that Bill Davis will be honored with a Legacy Award at the Third Biennial Fatherhood Conference, which will be held on Friday, November 6, at the DCF Office of Training and Professional Development in New Brunswick, NJ.

The award recognizes his decades of service to children, families, and individuals facing challenges in their lives, including 13 years as a Client Service Specialist and Anger Management Specialist at The Father Center.

Bill is deeply committed to helping children, reuniting families, and providing resources and mentoring to those in need of guidance and support. Throughout his career, he has put that mission into practice through social services, ministry, mentoring, and community leadership.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Bill attended Southern University and began his professional career as a Telecommunications and Computer Specialist at AT&T. After 28 years with the company, he retired and built a second career centered on serving others.

His more than 25 years in social services include leadership and direct service roles at several New Jersey organizations. At Love in the Name of Christ in Monmouth County, he coordinated clearinghouse services, worked with clients, and facilitated women’s support groups. At the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Monmouth County, now Family Promise, he served in positions including Network Director and Director of Community Development. He also worked as a Behavioral Specialist at Catholic Charities before joining The Father Center.

In honoring Bill with a Legacy Award, The Father Center celebrates a life shaped by compassion, leadership, and service. Please join us in congratulating Bill on this well-deserved award.

At The Father Center (TFC), we believe that love, kindness, and positivityhave the power to make a difference in people’s lives. Our Workforce Innovation and Opportunity (WIB) Program participants and WIB Program Manager came together dressed in red unintentionally at first, but we all agreed that red is the color of love. What began as a coincidence became a meaningful reminder of unity, hope, and encouragement.

Although wearing red was not planned, everyone agreed that it perfectly represented the love and support we strive to share with our participants every day. Through this simple and meaningful moment, the TFC team demonstrated that creating a positive environment starts with showing compassion, encouraging one another, and recognizing the value in every individual.

At TFC, we may have come dressed in red by coincidence, but we all agreed that it represents love and we strive to spread that love every day. Together, we continue to build a community where encouragement replaces discouragement, hope overcomes challenges, and every participant has the opportunity to move forward with confidence.

Congratulations, Shana Robinson, Our September Employee of the Month

For Shana Robinson, helping people move forward begins with making them feel heard. As an Eligibility Specialist at The Father Center of New Jersey, she combines careful attention to program requirements with compassion for the people seeking support.

Shana reviews applications to determine eligibility, ensures participant information is entered accurately, and assists with resume writing. When someone does not qualify for WIOA Title 1 funding, she directs them to other agencies that may be able to help.

What she enjoys most is offering a listening ear to people who have been “carrying the weight of the world on their back.” Giving them space to share their struggles and feel comfortable opening up is a meaningful part of her work.

One encounter that stays with Shana involved a young mother battling cancer who was seeking training to support her son. Hearing her story brought Shana to tears.

“Even though she was battling something, it didn’t stop her from wanting more,” she recalls. The mother’s determination made a lasting impression..

Outside of work, Shana enjoys making earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. A self-described homebody, she treasures quiet time at home to relax and recharge for the week ahead.

Please join us in congratulating Shana and thanking her for the care, encouragement, and understanding she brings to The Father Center community.

We are honored to announce that Rev. Dr. Reginald T. Pitts, Senior Pastor of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Irvington, NJ, will be the keynote speaker at The Father Center of New Jersey’s Third Biennial Fatherhood Conference, to be held Friday, November 6, at the DCF Office of Training and Professional Development in New Brunswick, NJ.

"Rev. Pitts speaks to the heart and challenges us to act. I believe the men, practitioners, and partners who gather on November 6 will leave not only inspired, but recommitted to the work of restoring fathers to their rightful place in the lives of their children."
