Here's a fun commission leaving the shop this week and going to a super talented local artist. It's a drawing bench or art horse or drawing pony. The idea is that the grooves toward the front hold the canvas at an angle and you sit towards the back and do your art...drawing, painting, sketching, etc. If you swipe through, the inspiration piece is at the end, a vintage piece from the 50's. The original crammed as much style as possible into a dull shape. So that guided the whole piece. I didn't have plans or anything, just the general dimensions from the vintage one. It has a bunch of fun details in there, as well as a super convoluted milk paint finish that was intentionally distressed and faded. The piece is made from doug fir and weighs almost nothing, for its size.
It was a fun one to make! I really love doing one-off weird stuff like this. If you have something unique you need designed and built, don't hesitate to reach out. We'll make something cool together.
