Never a dull moment on the farm! About 11 months ago, we bought Prairie, this beautiful sweet, small mare. She has been with Poncho, a GELDING, her entire time here. Unbeknownst to us, she was bred days before heading to our farm!
A couple of weeks ago, she started showing a belly... We thought she was just pigging out after winter. It quickly became apparent that it was more than a chunky belly. But of course, she CAN'T be pregnant. She's only ever been with our gelding for the 11 months she was here.
Fast forward a couple of weeks, and p**f - a gorgeous, healthy, sweet Paint C**t!
It was a long night last night (for us) staying with her through early labor, then a perfect birth, first steps and first nursing. Mom was amazing for a first timer, taking great care of her new boy.
Mom and C**t are both doing great- eating, drinking, hopping around. Prairie's temperament is so great and trusting. We can go in and love on the baby without her being overly protective.
