I design beautiful, functional interiors for every generation: multi-generational homes, aging-in-place, and barndominiums.

Specialties: lighting design, space planning, renderings, house plan review, and color consulting. I am a knowledgeable, empathetic, and problem-solving interior designer. I help overwhelmed professionals renovate their home and office spaces. My main focus is planning spaces that are beautiful, functional, safe, and adaptable for multiple generations. I provide floor plans, elevations, and renderings, as appropriate, to you and your contractors of choice. I sell window treatments, furniture, art, and accessories but clients don’t have to purchase product through me to benefit from a well-designed space. Every interior design project should consider the aspects of safety and flexibility-- for yourself, your guests, and future sale. When we put careful thought into the details, you won’t be able to tell that it was designed for multi-generational living; you’ll just see that it was designed well. I love taking the stress away from my clients and hearing that they wish they had called me sooner.

Day two at Design Chicago! Walking through STARK’s showroom is always a treat, the range of texture and color they showed this year was incredible. We also spent some time at Designer's Linen Source, where a green floral bed styled with Sferra linens caught our eye (of course we couldn't resist a closer look at the details). Calico Wallpaper stopped us in our tracks too, especially a gilded mosaic mural made up of multiple panels. We'll share more on how that's actually installed soon! And then there's Tuuci’s blue cabana, because sometimes a showroom makes you want to book a vacation instead of a client meeting. 🧡

So many beautiful details from today, feeling more inspired 😉 for our Northern Illinois and Lake Geneva clients!

Spent the day at Design Chicago inside the Merchandise Mart! Always fun to walk the showrooms and see what's new — from Cambria’s latest stone pairings to Baldwin Hardware’s customizable cabinet hardware (previewing their December release) to some genuinely charming tile. Feeling inspired for our Northern Illinois and Lake Geneva projects!

Not everything has to be replaced to feel new. Sometimes it just needs the right supporting cast. 🙌

This laundry room's granite has some age on it - but it's tucked away, low-traffic, and a full replacement just isn't the priority for this project. So instead of tearing it out, we're designing around it: new cabinet color, updating the hardware, a fresh rug, and new window casements.

Before anything gets repainted, we've rendered four different cabinet colors against the actual existing granite - so our client can see exactly how each one will look together, no guessing required.

This is the kind of smart, budget-conscious planning we bring to every space - knowing exactly what to update and what to leave alone.

Today marks 16 years since I founded Urbane Design Studio.

What began in 2010 as a passion for creating beautiful, functional spaces has grown into a career focused on thoughtful planning, multi-generational design, and lighting that truly supports how people live.

I’m incredibly grateful to the clients, collaborators, and industry partners who have been part of this journey.

As I look ahead, I’m excited to continue evolving my work through design, lighting expertise, and new educational resources for our industry.

IDNR is looking for a developer-lead team to enter into a Public-Private Partnership for the development, restoration, and operation of the Historic Hotel Florence and Hotel Florence Annex located in the Pullman Historic District on the south side of Chicago.

-The P3 agreement is to rehabilitate, restore, renovate, maintain, and operate the Hotel for a term of 75 years.

-This selection is for the developer/operator, the design team, and the construction team. No other selections/procurements of services relating to the development of the Hotel Florence and Annex are expected after this procurement.

-Selection will be based on qualifications, experience, project plan and budget, and BEP participation and past performance.

We will publish to the IDNR website a Request for Solicitations (RFS) on or after Feb. 15, 2025. Responses are anticipated to be due in late May to early June 2025. Notification of the successful team is anticipated to be around September 2025.
