The fields may be quiet right now. The work behind Ga***rd Little League isn’t. ⚾🥎

This summer, we welcomed Cody Shimp The Central Region Assistant Director for Little League International, to Ga***rd to talk about our league what’s working, where we can improve, and how we build a stronger experience for our kids. Cody was outstanding to sit down with, and that conversation now comes with something we can put to work. A League Development Plan built around our program’s strengths and opportunities!

As league president, I’m proud to see our board’s commitment and our community’s support recognized in that plan. I’m equally proud that we’re willing to ask questions, listen, and tackle the areas that need attention. That’s part of earning the trust families place in us.

Our direction is clear:
⚾ Better communication and a more consistent registration process.
🥎 Stronger Tee Ball, coach development, and opportunities for softball players.
🤝 Building on our school partnerships, local support, and the traditions that make this league worth investing in.

There’s work ahead. A plan doesn’t rake a field, coach a team, or get another kid signed up. PEOPLE DO! And I’m grateful to have those people beside me who keep showing up.

Fall colors are great. A trailer full of progress for our ballplayers? Even better. 🍂⚾

Today’s trip across northern Michigan brought enough padded turf back to Ga***rd to finish our three remaining batting cages! Just a few more steps and all FOUR cages will be complete and ready for our players to put in the work 💪🏽!

The games may be over for the season, but the work behind the scenes keeps rolling. These improvements mean more opportunities for our kids to build confidence, sharpen their skills, and enjoy the game.

Unfortunately, on August 7th someone trespassed on private property and broke into our Ga***rd Little League equipment sheds and trashed parts of the complex. Money to fix this vandalism and increase security of the complex is going to take away money from our program and plans to improve the complex further. Ga***rd Little League is proud to announce the appointment of Caitlin Anne Burzynski as our new Vice President!

This appointment wasn’t made because of a title—it was earned through dedication, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to our league.

Just days before Opening Day, Ga***rd Little League unexpectedly found itself needing additional leadership at one of the busiest times of the season. Rather than stepping back, Caitlin stepped forward.

While continuing to serve as our Social Media & Communications Director, she willingly took on responsibilities well beyond her original role. From organizing schedules and coordinating field usage to managing communications, solving day-to-day challenges, and helping keep league operations running smoothly, Caitlin became an invaluable part of our leadership team.

Many of the most important jobs in Little League happen behind the scenes, often without recognition. Caitlin handled those responsibilities with professionalism, humility, and a genuine passion for making sure our players, families, coaches, and volunteers had a successful season.

Great leaders aren’t defined by the position they hold—they’re defined by their willingness to serve when they’re needed most. Caitlin exemplified that every single day.

On behalf of the Ga***rd Little League Board of Directors, thank you, Caitlin, for your countless hours, your tireless work ethic, and your heart for this league. We are incredibly fortunate to have you, and we’re excited to officially welcome you as our Vice President.
