A winding road led me to where I am today, proudly creating one of a kind pieces from rescued vintage furniture in the Indianapolis area. My husband and I met in Chicago nearly 35 years ago. Together we have rehabbed seven homes from Chicago to Indianapolis. That’s a lot of painting and design work! After my boys were born, I made the decision to stay home. But I soon needed a creative “fix” and began teaching painting classes in the evening – from wallpapering, to stenciling and several faux finishes. This exciting and exhausting time, led to small painting jobs while my boys were in preschool, and my painting contracting business began to grow. For twenty plus years, I worked happily as a painting contractor building knowledge and experience with finishes and colors, and enjoying the creative process of giving a customer a product that she or he just loved. In 2015, I began dabbling in the furniture restyling world. I soon found that the demand for restyled vintage furniture was growing and I wanted to be a part of it. I also found that my decorating knowledge and the joy I found in creating a beautiful product for a customer translated very well to this new “canvas”. I’m not sure what part of the furniture flipping business I love more – finding just the right piece, deciding what paint or stain technique to use, that wonderful time with a paint brush in my hands, or the reaction of the client that “just loves it!” Truth be told, there’s nothing I like more than listening to loud music while I work in my shop just behind our home under the supervision of my loving Maltese, Cooper. On the down side, I will never have lovely manicured nails and I often complain about my aching back while lugging around a heavy dresser with my husband. At this stage in my life, I couldn't choose a better place to be.
