A peek behind the scenes on how I finished my latest piece. I enjoyed to see the changes that came with every step of the process.

Iām so excited to share that my work has been featured by Chalk Paint as part of Annie Sloanās Star Painters groupāļø Being part of this handpicked group highlights our individual approaches and techniques. For the piece featured here, I chose to showcase my favorite technique: creating texture. I love working with texture because it brings so much depth, character, and interest to a piece.
Please see more details about my approach in the caption I shared from the feature.

Handpicked by for their use of colour, vision, techniques and talents, we're shining a light on their creativity and artistry over the summer.
Today, we've been transported to Morocco for a Monday Makeover by Carina Reimers who has combined her love for Moroccan interiors and colours with a nod to American SouthWest influences to create a piece that has a cross-cultural aesthetic. She said: "I enjoy mixing styles and aesthetics as they reflect the global interconnected world we live in"
Chalk Paints used:
Burgundy, Coco, Jaipur Pink, Arles, Old White, Florence, Olive
Techniques:
Carina used texture making, blending and washing to create a clever patina effect.
She starting with a base of Burgundy and then left a 1/3 cup of a paint to dry until it
had a thicker consistency which she then used to create a stippling effect. She then blended in Jaipur Pink, applied some light sanding and scraping, to reveal the colour underneath, before finishing off with a light wash.
Thanks Carina for showing us the
possibilities there are for using Chalk Paint, it's so inspiring '

once read that Bauhaus and wabi-sabi donāt really go togetherābut I think they can. :)
Inspired by Bauhaus geometry, I wanted to soften the clean lines a little, so I painted the yellow details slightly imperfectly. Then I sanded back the solid colours and added subtle shade variations to give the piece more depth and character.
Have you ever painted something inspired by Bauhaus? Iād love to see it!

This piece never fails to brighten my day. Always love the Shibori stencil for its filigrane yet strong design. Do you have a favorite stencil or design you always go back to?

I am very excited to finally share a full picture of this buffet. This whole process from turning my vision into reality and finally sharing the full picture with took much longer than expected. But here it is the piece I am very excited about. The inspiration came from an exhibition at the amazing Cleveland Museum of Art of art where I spotted a beautiful damask fabric in vibrant colors. My goal was to mimic the beautiful shimmer and combining bold and neutral colors. Very happy how it turned out.
This buffet is available!
Please DM for details.
