It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been creating.
I started a new job recently that has taken up a lot of my time and energy, and the little free time I’ve had has mostly been spent working on projects around our own home. Somewhere along the way, I just stopped making the time to photograph and share the things I was working on.
This project felt like a good one to change that.
I was given this decoy and a pretty wide creative berth to turn it into a trophy. Those are always some of my favorite projects—the ones where someone trusts me with an idea and gives me the freedom to figure out where to take it.
I ended up with an oval cherry base, a routed edge, and a custom brass plate, and I really enjoyed watching the whole thing come together. They loved it so much, I was commissioned to make a matching box to house the trophy when not on display.
It felt good to get back in the shop, make something a little different, and remember why I started doing this in the first place.
Hopefully I’ll do a better job of sharing the next one. 🙂
