This awesome Louis Philippe style Tiered Desk dates to the mid-eighteen hundreds (circa 1850s). The desk was ‘hand-crafted’ by a superb craftsman. The drawer joints are hand cut dovetails.

This “Statement Sized Desk” has its original finish. It was likely made with walnut and mahogany.

We recently acquired this brass item. It has a brass covered, cast iron base that was made by “A.B. & F. WKS.” in Seattle.

The large brass ball/globe/sphere is hollow. It is not a lamp shade. There is a small ball and a large (4 1/2” diameter) ball that are attached to a rod. The ball/rod will fit either horizontally or vertically into the base.

We have seen a similar ‘Seattle base’ on a clothing display rack. It is hard to imagine this piece as a display rack.

The fact that this piece is almost entirely brass, suggests that it might be scientific?

We have quite a selection of Hall Seats and Benches at Shady Lawn.

We have three Hall Seats. The two large ones have storage under the seat. The narrow (smaller) one has no storage.

Of note is the two piece bench and mirror combination. The profile at the top of the mirror and the top of the bench are the same.

Our church pew is 42” wide. The rectangular back bench is 46” wide. And the “oval back” bench is 40” wide.

This is likely the largest combined inventory of hall seats and benches in Eastern Washington.

Today we are showcasing desks. They range from a 1860s Craftsman hand-built desk to an early 1930s machine built desk.

There are several photos of each desk. They start with an overall photo and then progress to detailed photos.

The latest addition to our furniture inventory is this late 1880-90s Kitchen Cabinet. These cabinets come with multiple drawers of different sizes and shapes.

This cabinet has two flour bins in the bottom. The cabinet “table top” was used to mix and kneed bread dough on. Therefore you often hear cabinets of this type referred to as Dough Boys.

Nick sanded the inside of the drawers and put in new drawer bottoms. This was to clean the drawers up for future use.

We can’t say that the cabinet has its original finish. We can say that we cleaned the cabinet and the finish that was on it (when we acquired it).

This “Dough Boy” is structurally sound and clean. It is ready for you to use.

Our antique Oak Display Cabinets were made over 100 years ago. They utilize flat or curved glass in their construction. The Cabinets can be rectangular (flat sided), curved, or a combination of both.

The Cabinets range in height from 4 1/2 feet to 6 feet tall. The majority of our Cabinets were designed to fit flat against a wall. However two of them are ”triangular” and were built to fit into a corner - not surprisingly they are called Corner Cabinets.
