The flowers are finally showing up, better late than never, right?!

We are cleaning up in the dahlia patch and deadheading old blooms, which tells the plants to redirect that energy into producing more flowers, and these older blooms are perfect to collect petals from for flower confetti. The petals tend to hold their color better when collected in this way, and after a couple of weeks of drying they will get packaged up to sell as an all-natural and eco-friendly confetti 🏵️🎉

We don't usually have monarch butterflies around during the summer, but we do usually catch them around this time of year as they begin migrating south for winter. We're always thankful to be chosen as a refueling stop on their journey! (The bumbles also enjoy feeding from this butterfly bush) 🦋🐝

Just because I'm sometimes lax about posting on here, doesn't mean there's nothing going on to post about!

Last weekend I was absent from the markets because we decided to take a short trip to the beach, and it was a much needed getaway for our family. However, that was time I would normally have spent prepping, so after getting home I was in a crunch all week to prepare for the Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival. I made a batch of simmer pot bags, crayons, candles, and cleaning spray, plus replaced labels on other items that have gotten rained on at the market, printed new pricing sheets, tags, etc. The festival went well and it was a gorgeous fall day 🍂

Now that I've recouped from two weekends in a row of going, going, going, I'll get back to the garden, my dahlia patch, and even get a few more crafts done.

But just look at these beautiful carrots I pulled the other day 👀 The first truly purple ones I've grown!
