Wind’s howling. Rain’s sideways. And then… click. The whole house goes dark. 🌩️

If you’ve lived through more than one Long Island fall, you know that moment. So here’s a question we hear a lot: what happens to a stairlift when the power goes out?

Short answer: it keeps going. ⚡

Acorn stairlifts run on rechargeable batteries built right into the chair. They top themselves up while the lift is parked, so when the power cuts out, the lift doesn’t. Nobody’s stuck halfway up the stairs waiting on the utility trucks.

One small habit makes a big difference: always park it where it charges, so it’s full when you need it most.

Storm season is here. If your stairlift battery hasn’t been looked at in a while, deal with it now, not mid nor’easter. Give us a call. Pete picks up. 📞

Before anyone talks numbers with you, someone from our team is standing in your house, looking at your actual staircase. Not a stock photo of a staircase, yours.

The turns, the landing, the railing, all of it. That's the part people don't expect, and it's the part that makes sure what you end up with actually fits your home instead of some generic version of it.

With the holidays creeping up and family about to be in and out of the house, now's a pretty good time to get that visit on the calendar.

No pressure, no pricing talk until we've actually seen the stairs. Want us to come take a look?

It's spooky season, so let's bust a few myths that scare people away from even calling us.

Myth one: installing a stairlift means tearing up your staircase. Nope, it mounts to the stair itself, your walls stay exactly as they are.

Myth two: it's a slow, disruptive process that takes weeks. Also no, most installs happen in a single day once everything's measured and ready.

Myth three: one stairlift fits every staircase. Definitely not, that's exactly why we come out and actually look at your stairs before we ever talk numbers.

Which of these did you honestly believe was true? We won't judge.

Long Island homes are not one-size-fits-all, and neither are staircases.

Colonials tend to have long straight runs. Capes often have narrower, steeper stairwells tucked near the front door. Split-levels throw landings and turns into the mix.

That's exactly why "just send me a price over the phone" never really works, your staircase has its own personality.

What's your home style, Colonial, Cape, split-level, ranch with a finished basement? Curious how many different layouts are hiding in our comment section.

You know the one. The Sunday call where mom says "I'm fine, just took the stairs a little slower today." And you laugh it off because what else can you do from three states away?

Look, that little pause right after she says she's fine, that's not nothing. That's the moment a lot of families finally pick up the phone and call us instead. We're not saying every slow step is an emergency.

We're saying you don't have to wait for one to ask the question.

What's the smallest sign that's actually been sitting with you? Tell us, we're happy to just talk it through, no pressure, no sales pitch.

No call center. No phone tree. No "your call is important to us" on a loop.

When you call Long Island Stairlifts, Pete picks up. That's it, that's the whole system.

We've kept it that way on purpose, because when you're calling about a staircase that's become a daily struggle, you deserve an actual person, not a menu.

Ever been stuck on hold for something that mattered? We'd rather you never feel that here. Give us a call and see for yourself.

Here's what actually happens when you call us, no smoke and mirrors.

We come out to your house first. We look at your actual staircase, your landings, your doorways, all of it, before anyone talks numbers.

Every staircase on Long Island is a little different (we've seen it all, from tight Cape Cod stairwells to curved colonial staircases), so a real assessment beats a guess every time.

That's the whole process. No pressure, no surprises.

Ever had a company try to quote you over the phone without seeing your home first? Tell us about it below.

Labor Day is really a day about the people who show up and do the work, day in, day out. That's how we think about our own crew too.

So today, whether you're grilling in the backyard or just enjoying a quiet Monday off, we hope you get a real break.

And hey, if a staircase has been on your mind all summer, drop us a line, we'll get to it once the holiday's over (or sooner if you catch us).

Happy Labor Day from our family to yours.

Quick myth check: stairlifts are only for grandma and grandpa? Not even close.

We've installed them for people healing from knee surgery, folks managing chronic pain, and homeowners who are just done babying a sore back every single day. Age isn't the qualifier here, comfort is.

Honestly, if stairs have become a daily negotiation for anyone in your house, that's reason enough to look into it.

Who do you know that's been quietly avoiding a staircase? Tag them, we don't mind starting the conversation for you.

Here's something a lot of stairlift companies do that we won't: give you a price before we've seen your stairs.

A quote over the phone sounds convenient. But it's really just a guess. And when the installer shows up and the staircase doesn't match what was assumed, that number changes. Sometimes significantly.

Every stairlift installation on Long Island is different. Straight stairs, curved stairs, split-levels, tight landings, low ceilings at the top. The configuration determines the equipment. The equipment determines the price. And you can't know any of that without actually standing in the home.

So we come out first. We look at everything. We give you a real number for your specific staircase, not a ballpark for someone else's.

No surprises. No second invoice. That's how Pete has always run this, and it's not changing. Call us and let's get something on the calendar. đź“‹
