Let's talk about something people are afraid to say out loud: sleep paralysis. 😶

If you've ever woken up unable to move, with a strange pressure on your chest and a sense that something is in the room — you're not alone. And you're not imagining it.

Sleep paralysis happens when you wake from REM sleep before your brain has fully re-engaged voluntary muscle control. During REM, your body is naturally 'paralyzed' — it's a protective mechanism that stops you from acting out your dreams. When you wake mid-REM, there's a brief lag before that paralysis lifts.
