Thanks Tuckahoe DPW for welcoming us to the annual Fall DPW Open House Event (Saturday, October 17)! We were happy as always to stop by and provide information about Furniture Sharehouse and the wonderful donation Collection Bin that Tuckahoe has hosted for us in their Yard since 2013. Franco DiMarco, Superintendent of DPW and Joe Tavolilla, General Foreman, reported that the Bin is popular with residents wanting to donate items to FS, and that they keep an eye on it to make sure that only items that meet our Donation Guidelines are deposited in it. We are so grateful to them for this long-time great partnership!

Thank you very much and may God continue to bless you all greatly”

We are proud to work with Yonkers Office for the Aging and delighted to welcome a new caseworker to the warehouse for her first experience accompanying a client while they choose furniture.

The client is a senior living with several health challenges in municipal housing in
Yonkers. Many thanks to Field Hall Foundation who covered the furniture delivery fee through a grant to Furniture Sharehouse to assist low income, senior residents of Westchester County.

Mom and son share their experience having their home furnished for FREE by Furniture Sharehouse. We encourage our fellow Westchester service agencies to reach out when they have clients who are struggling with furniture poverty and living in conditions that are unhealthy due to a lack of basic furnishings.

Thank you Scarsdale High School Social Entrepreneurship Teacher Tabitha Sasso for inviting Furniture Sharehouse to visit her enthusiastic and engaged classroom to discuss furniture poverty in Westchester County, and how we address this often hidden need. Executive Director Kate Bialo shared her experience in building the organization, working with social service agencies across the County to identify families in need and then furnishing their empty homes for free with furniture donated by the Westchester community. Kate was joined by Scarsdale HS Senior Lance Simon, who generously volunteers his time with Furniture Sharehouse and donates his original artwork to the organization for clients to select from (we included a pic of Lance and his artwork display at the warehouse!)

Furniture Sharehouse was proud to celebrate the community impact of LMC Media at their sold out 2026 Gala, held October 1. The theme was Community Comes Together, which is LMCMedia's mission in a nutshell -- covering every aspect of our community life and broadcasting it for all to discover and learn. Shown here is Furniture Sharehouse Executive Director with LMC Media Assistant Director Dena Schumacher. Wonderful night!

Why should you donate your furniture to Furniture Sharehouse or your local furniture bank instead of other organizations?
Because WE GIVE IT FOR FREE to individuals and families who are struggling with financial and personal hardships leaving them unable to afford even the most basic of furnishings! Other organizations that collect your furniture will then sell it in re-sale stores at prices that our clients cannot possibly afford.
This is a gentle reminder that if you want to be sure that your well loved, but no longer wanted furniture goes DIRECTLY, FREE TO FAMILIES IN NEED, please donate it to Furniture Sharehouse. We will give it a new life furnishing hope and comfort to those who need it most. Link in bio for details
