Just a friendly reminder that our Public Works crew is still replacing the remaining old meters in town. Our Neptune Meter Project is nearly done with less than 100 to go! 🦺
Having a new water meter installed is not an optional service. All water connections to the Wilbur Municipal Water System are required to be metered, per WMC 13A.15.020.
The crew will work as quickly as possible when changing your meter to limit the amount of time your water will be off. Typically, they can change a meter in 15 to 30 minutes. Should our crew encounter a difficult meter, they will work with residents to keep them informed and possibly schedule the work for a better time.
If you are curious about the new meters, they are considered β€œAMR Meters,” meaning they send data one-way when a utility worker drives or walks nearby with a receiver. πŸ‘©β€πŸ’Ό The Town of Wilbur does not have AMI Water Meters. That means your meter reads cannot be accessed without a person actually physically being nearby your meter. Town employees and residents are also not able to access up-to-date meter usage stats online or with an app. πŸ“‹

FYI. Last week we updated the county map showing burn bans by individual fire districts as some had intended to lift bans. It has since come to our attention that the Governor's Emergency Proclamation is still in effect and bans all burning statewide until at least September 30th. We will keep you updated as conditions change. πŸ™
