Happy back-to-the-grind, post-Labor Day! Hope you all had a great long weekend and found some water to put your feet in… or maybe some lava and a glass full of b**r. Now let’s build something!

Some projects are complicated. And then there’s pouring a massive river of glowing lava through black walnut and just hoping chemistry behaves itself.

We built this beast back in 2018 for Incendiary Brewing in the old Bailey Power Plant in downtown Winston-Salem.

Instead of the typical epoxy river table, we figured a brewery called Incendiary, sitting next to the old coal pit of a power plant, probably needed something a little more… on fire.

So, lava.

The live edge of the black walnut creates the path for the backlit “lava” running through the bar top. Which sounds simple enough, except a pour this big is anything but. Mixing ratios had to be dead on, temperatures had to stay consistent, bubbles had to be dealt with and then we had to wait for the whole thing to cure and hope it did what it was supposed to do.

Epoxy does not care about your schedule.

We also wrapped that massive column and built what was, at the time, the biggest table we’d ever made. A 26 FOOT community table.

And then we had to get it there.

Down the road from our shop, into Bailey Power Plant, down a flight of stairs and somehow into place. It took a lot of people, a lot of careful maneuvering and probably some words we won’t repeat here.

Almost 8 years later, people are still gathering around it, drinking b**r, spilling b**r and putting all that walnut to work.

We’re happy this project brought us a few great employees over the years. Still one of the coolest things we’ve built. 🔥

This Charlotte-area project we finished a few years ago was a good one. Featuring a vaulted tongue-and-groove ceiling, oversized faux beams, and custom cabinetry throughout the space.

At the time, this one pushed our team in all the best ways. The beam layout followed the pitch of the ceiling from end to end, which meant every detail had to stay consistent across the entire install. A lot of layout work, a lot of sanding, and a lot of time spent several feet off the ground staring upward.

The weathered gray finish on the beams and spruce cladding brought warmth and texture into the space without making it feel heavy, while the custom cabinetry tied everything together below.

Looking back through the progress shots next to the finished work is always fun because projects like this remind us how much coordination, problem-solving, and craftsmanship goes into the details people now walk past every day without a second thought.

Framed by that lit K-wall and metalwork from Viator Construction and designed by Stitch Design Shop.

Starting this one from the top down.

1500+ sq ft of ceiling work at Koury Corporation’s offices… and yeah, it’s doing the absolute most.

Angles on angles, all tying back to the “K” concept dreamt up by Stitch Design Shop. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Took some serious planning, fabrication, and install coordination to make it all land clean overhead.

We enjoyed working with Kontoor Brands (Wrangler, Lee, Helly Hansen) at their Greensboro HQ on a series of millwork projects, including this feature wall that’s doing the absolute most… in a good way.

Wood on wood, layered for depth, with metallic gold tones set against a dark backer to give it that dimensional, almost shifting look depending on where you’re standing.

Not just something to look at. Something you feel when you walk past it.

Also built out amenity spaces throughout the office, including staff kitchens and a few other spots we’ll share as we keep photographing and working through the space.
