The top tier of this two tier cabinet rises on waisted turned supports to give the effect of its gently balancing above the base. details adorn the sides and back and in the centre front a finely detailed lion’s mask handle provides access to the cupboard. This shows the influence of the grand tour generations on furniture design. With their heads full of ancient art and architecture, British noble families demanded classical styles for their homes. Smaller than the , but no less striking to behold, this rosewood commode has many fine details that draw the eye.
A brass wire grille in the gothic taste adds a stylish touch to the doors with familiar pleated silk behind. There is much detailed carving to the frieze and to the columns, and this has also been gilded, to pick out the detail and heighten the drama.

The oval shield back of these French-inspired chairs seems designed purely to enable you to embrace them and help your guests to the table.
