We were honoured to co-host the recent GBCSA Planet Shapers event with Green Building Council South Africa GBCSA and Humanscale, bringing together industry professionals for a conversation around something we feel deserves far more attention: material transparency and its role in creating more responsible workspaces.
Sustainability is often considered from the outside in - the building, the energy, the façade. But what about the products and materials we bring into those spaces?
It was a privilege to collaborate with GBCSA and Humanscale on a conversation that encouraged us to look more closely at what goes into our workspaces, how products are made, and the choices we make when specifying them.
A huge thank you to our incredible facilitator, Abi Godsell, for guiding the conversation, and to Jane Abernethy, Chief Sustainability Officer at Humanscale, who joined us virtually from Canada. It’s always a pleasure to hear Jane’s thought-provoking perspective and learn more about the work Humanscale is doing around circularity, responsible production and material transparency.
Thank you also to Cebisa Mafukuzela and Mlondolozi Hempe for sharing their perspectives, and to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful conversation.
Because creating better spaces isn’t only about how they look or function. It’s also about understanding what goes into them.
