Wunders
Wunders furniture is handcrafted in South Africa with its customer in mind. Bring your vision to life with sizes, fabric selection, and finishes.
Our latest mmakesspace products, designed by đđđđ Sustainable Designer, look at the creative possibilities that exist when repurposing off-cuts from our manufacturing process.
Mohair supplied by Woven Waste and leather have found their way into slippers and beautiful scatter cushions, while fabric offcuts have been transformed into bags, purses and even hats.
Our MakeSpace initiative helps keep us accountable. It reminds us to look at what weâre using, what weâre throwing away and where there might be an opportunity to do things differently.
We know there is still a long road ahead to being truly sustainable, both as a business and as a planet. That said, sometimes change can start with something as small as a pair of slippers.
The latest MakeSpace products are available at our showroom: 32 Napier Street, De Waterkant.

Forming part of our very first âGeorgian Collectionâ, the Smith Sofa draws inspiration from English period furniture.
The Smith Sofa is a reminder that furniture doesnât need to follow trends, especially when crafted to last.
With its traditional lines and solid turned timber feet, its design pedigree remains just as relevant today as it was when Wunders first introduced it over 40 years ago.
The Smith Sofa: A Wunders design staple worth cherishing for generations.

A well-designed workplace should consist of more than desks and sterile meeting rooms. Ideally, it serves as an environment that fosters collaboration and inspiration.
The office for The Bud Group pairs bold colour, contemporary artworks and layered textures to create an atmosphere thatâs welcoming and inspiring.
Our Penny and Lino Tub Chairs are paired with a selection of sofas like the Jasper, Codi and Minautaurus to anchor the layout of pause areas and meeting spaces. These pieces are a testament to the versatility of the Wunders collection, which is at home in both a domestic and corporate setting.
Made by hand in our Cape Town factory and designed to accentuate the key moments of our clientsâ workdays.

Over the past 300 years La Motte W**e has positioned themselves as one of the premier w**e farms in the Franschhoek Valley. Their rich heritage extends beyond their award-winning w**es, acting as generous patrons of local artists, designers and makers too.
Working alongside Basalt Home, Wunders created this unique green velvet wrap-around banquette for the hallway connecting the The Ateljee and restaurant at La Motte.
The banquette was designed to function a focal point within the space as well as the vantage point from which to pause and relish the surrounding architecture, artwork and installation overhead.
A perfect pairing of heritage, design and craftsmanship.
âThey donât make things like they used to.â Itâs an old saying weâve all heard before. One that speaks to a time when furniture was built to last.
While the world around us has changed, the way we make furniture hasnât.
For us, quality isnât just about the timber we choose or the fabric we upholster with. Itâs about how every piece is made. Every length of timber handled by hand. Every piece of fabric measured before itâs cut. Every pattern made from scratch.
When every piece passes through so many hands, thereâs a level of care and attention to detail that mass production simply canât replicate.
In the pride our team takes in their work. In the experience theyâve built over decades. And in the belief that if something is worth making, itâs worth making well.
Some things really were made differently back then.
At Wunders, they still are.
Over the last half century, weâve watched furniture design evolve. Weâve seen styles come and go and a new generation of designers shape the way we live today.
The Wunders story is told through the golden thread that ties the old with the new. One that keeps classic design at the heart of modern living and generations of furniture making relevant in todayâs world.
When Laura Wunder opened our De Waterkant showroom in 2011, her vision was to create a space where Wunders met design. A place where furniture wasnât simply viewed, but experienced. Where every piece invited you to touch, to feel and to understand the story behind it.
Our showroom brings everything we have to offer together in one place. Every collection, every fabric, every timber finish and every possibility.

Womenâs Day in South Africa exists because of the courage of 20,000 women who, on 9 August 1956, marched to have their voices heard.
Nearly 70 years later, that courage continues to live on in women across our country.
At Wunders, weâre fortunate to work alongside women whose strength shows itself in different ways every day. Women who have raised families, built careers, overcome challenges and continue to show up with resilience, kindness and determination. Women inspired by their mothers, grandmothers and aunts, and who are now inspiring the next generation themselves.
On Sunday, we celebrate the women who came before us, the women beside us and the women who are still to come.
Happy Womenâs Day from all of us at Wunders.
Wunders manufactured a custom upholstered banquette seating to complement the bold colours and playful 1980s diner-inspired interior of đ´ Arthurâs Mini Super đ´.
Arthurâs Mini Super is a retro-themed neighbourhood cafĂŠ, deli and bar tucked away in Sea Point. By day itâs a breakfast and lunch spot. By night, it transforms into a cosy w**e bar. Some patrons claim that it serves some of the best toasties in Cape Town.
Designed specifically for the space and made in our Cape Town factory, our banquette seating is built for morning coffees, long lunches and evenings that stretch a little later than planned.
If youâre in Sea Point, pop into đ´ Arthurâs Mini Super đ´, grab a coffee or a toastie and take a seat.
