Loved this styling and table setting — simple, intentional and quietly detailed in a way that feels completely true to their brand.

Confessions of a Luxury Curator 06 -
Style Over Comfort.

A chair that looks beautiful but can’t be sat in for more than ten minutes.

Furniture that prioritises aesthetics over the body sends a quiet message to your guests: you were considered as a visual element, not as a person.

The most memorable luxury properties get this right. The room looks stunning — and it feels even better to be in. That is not an accident. It is a deliberate choice to design for the guest experience, not the photoshoot.

This is one of the things I look for during a SUD Studio Immersion Audit. Not just what the space looks like — but what it feels like to actually live in it, even for one night.

Beautiful marketing gets the booking.

The actual experience gets the review.

Luxury hospitality invests in interiors, staff training, housekeeping, photography, influencer marketing and guest acquisition — but one thing is often overlooked:

What does the stay actually feel like once the guest arrives?

Because guests don’t remember thread count.

They remember:
• whether they slept well
• if the lighting felt calming or clinical
• whether the room flowed effortlessly
• the details that made them exhale… or quietly frustrate them

A harsh bedside light.
A shower that takes too long to warm up.
An uncomfortable chair.
The feeling that something looked beautiful — but didn’t feel effortless.

Luxury lives (or dies) in the invisible details.

Through the SUD Studio Immersion Audit, I assess boutique hotels, guesthouses, wine estates, luxury Airbnbs and experience-led properties through the lens of a real guest — identifying the friction points that quietly shape reviews, repeat bookings and perceived luxury.

Because visuals sell the room.

The lived experience sells the return stay.

Confessions of a Luxury Curator #05 — The small things guests never forget.

A loose door handle.
A cupboard that doesn’t close properly.
A squeaky hinge at midnight.
A bedside light that flickers.

Luxury is rarely lost in one big moment — it slips away in tiny frustrations.

Because guests don’t experience a property in photographs.
They experience it in the details.

The truth? Small maintenance oversights quietly communicate something bigger:

“If this was overlooked… what else was?”

And in hospitality, trust, comfort, and care are felt long before they’re spoken.

The details matter. Always.

One of my favourite parts of the process… inspiration and selection.

Researching textures, selecting fabrics and refining details to ensure every choice reflects the lodge’s identity, team vision and the customer experience they want guests to remember.

Because luxury isn’t just about what you see—
it’s about what people feel.

The fastest way to make a space feel expensive this winter?

Texture.

Soft boucle.
Washed linen.
Heavy drapery.
Layered throws.
Warm wood.
Quiet lighting.

Because luxury isn’t always loud — sometimes it’s simply the feeling of walking into a room and instantly wanting to stay a little longer.

Winter interiors should feel warm, comforting, layered… and impossible to leave. 🤍

Which texture are you adding to your home this winter? ✨

The right spaces don’t just look beautiful…
they make you feel more like yourself inside them.

Calmer.
Softer.
More grounded.
More aligned.

That’s always been my approach to interiors, hospitality, and guest experience — creating spaces that don’t only impress visually, but feel effortless to live in, stay in, and return to.

The lighting.
The textures.
The atmosphere.
The ease.

Because good design is never just about aesthetics.
It’s about how a space holds you after a long week, on a quiet Saturday evening, or in the small moments people remember most. ✨

Wishing everyone a beautiful, slow Saturday evening.

Confessions of a Luxury Curator no 04

Bathrooms quietly shape a guest’s entire perception of luxury.

Loose fittings.
Water marks.
Poor drainage.
Limescale on fixtures.
Mould in grout lines.
Dim lighting.
Missing hooks or nowhere to place toiletries.

These are the details guests notice immediately — even if they never mention them directly.

A beautiful bathroom should feel clean, calm, effortless, and considered at every touchpoint.

Because in hospitality, luxury is often proven in the spaces guests inspect most closely. 🤍

Some experiences just leave you feeling… happy !!!

An unexpected late afternoon at the Taj Cape Town filled with warm hospitality, genuine smiles, and the kind of thoughtful service that reminds you how much people shape an experience.

Beautiful complimentary snacks from the chef, immaculately clean restrooms, attentive staff, and carefully considered décor that feels deeply respectful of the building’s rich history and grandeur.

It’s often the quieter details that leave the strongest impression — the things guests may not always photograph, but will always remember.

A beautiful reminder that luxury is never only about the space itself… but about how a place makes you feel while you’re in it ✨

Thank you to the wonderful team for such a memorable afternoon. #
