Stumbling across this workshop in the middle of nowhere reminded us how 8 Degrees South began. It started with a simple idea, to find and make beautiful products and bring them home.

People often ask us why Indonesia. It's hard to explain the feeling of being here, sourcing, creating and connecting with the people who bring our designs to life. When you buy from us, you're buying more than a piece of furniture. You're supporting small family businesses scattered across this island. Some are families we've worked with for years, whose children we've watched grow up, leave for university and return to take over the factories, building on what their parents and grandparents started decades ago. Every piece carries a story. Their story and ours. It's art, craftsmanship and heritage woven together. I don't know how to bottle the feeling of being here, but I do know how to bring a little piece of it back to South Africa and the rest of the world.

Our furniture isn’t mass produced. Every piece is made by hand using traditional manufacturing techniques, with no two pieces ever exactly the same.

We currently have three containers on the water filled with both our best sellers and completely new pieces we’ve never brought in before.
