There’s a reason the Escarpment range has quietly become one of our most-loved collections — it never tries too hard. Just solid timber, softened edges, and a gentle taper that lets the wood do the talking.

Now that same deisgn has moved outdoors. The Escarpment Table and Bench keep every detail you know — the rounded aesthetic, the tapered leg, the unhurried proportions — reworked in Iroko, a hardwood built to hold up outside. It’s best suited to a covered patio, where the timber can age gracefully without the worst of the weather.

Reflecting on the meaning of heritage prompts us to look back at our origins and what they mean for our future.

This year, P+L celebrates 18 years of considered design, skilled craftsmanship, and a passion for well-made furniture that makes the everyday beautiful.

But when we reflect on the true origins of P+L, it has always come down to one thing: our people.

Today, we celebrate our true heritage: the hands and hearts that make it possible for us to exist and grow. Some of our team members have been with us since day one, and that means the world to us. We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring individuals from all walks of life and heritages together under one roof, working toward a shared goal—creating beauty together.

To celebrate breaking ground in Joburg, our friends at FATHER Coffee will be setting up their espresso machine because what better way to welcome the neighborhood than over a flat white?

As designers we’re fueled by curiosity and lots of coffee – we take these mighty beans seriously, we even named a timber finish in its honour.
