I had the BEST day exploring Florence while Mark was off riding his bike. He’s been here so many times before, so today I decided to do Florence solo… and boy, I was not disappointed!

I wandered, got completely lost in the little streets, found all the places that make my heart happy and then got absolutely SPOILT with the most incredible vintage Italian linen.

Although, to me, it looks wonderfully French… you know me …

Only true vintage lovers will understand the absolute JOY of finding old linen like this. The texture, the embroidery, the imperfections, the fact that it has already lived a whole life before finding its way to you.

My kind of souvenir from Florence.

No fridge magnets for this girl… give me old linen and a vintage shop any day.🖤

Not every day a normal girl next door, mom, chicken lover and “Poppi” lands on a billboard on one of Cape Town’s biggest buildings… the Media24 building and being part of South African history !

Seeing my face up there feels completely surreal!!!

We made it to Venice !

Straight after , which I STILL cannot believe actually happened… and just in time to turn 45!

PHEW. What an in-bloody-credible 48 hours.

I don’t think I have ever felt this much love.

More than 600 messages, comments, voice notes and beautiful words from all of you. I appreciate every single one. Every message. Every comment. Every person who took a moment to celebrate this crazy, beautiful moment with me.

From the very last beam in my body, THANK YOU.

I am overwhelmed. Humbled. Grateful beyond words. Feeling incredibly, incredibly loved… and completely exhausted after all the excitement ..totally ready for bed , my kids would say it’s totally normal 🫣

I think the adrenaline has finally left the building and my body has realised what just happened.

45 years around the sun and somehow I’m standing in Venice, fresh from something I still can’t quite believe happened( me , really ??)

Exhausted, emotional, grateful and ridiculously happy.

What a way to turn 45.

My heart is very, very full. 🤍

The old, the beautiful, the pieces with a story to tell.

And sometimes that love spills over into what I wear too.

This outfit is extra special. My granny wore it 58 years ago, modelling in Bloemfontein for OK Bazaars. And now, all these years later, I get to wear it.

I love the outfit, but I love that it was hers even more.
Perhaps that’s exactly why I’ve always been drawn to old things.
And please excuse the morning face…Early morning selfies trying to decide on gala event outfits… the glamour clearly only starts later(yikes)

Vintage, sentimental and completely priceless to me.

Oh I do love something a little unexpected ♠️♥️

This one had me the minute I saw it.

That beautiful French bombé shape, the curved legs, aged black and gold finish and then… playing cards. Hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades, all perfectly imperfect and wonderfully quirky.

It’s fun without being childish, which is exactly why I can see it in a boy’s room between two beds. But equally gorgeous in a study, entrance, guest room or tucked into that little corner that needs something with personality.

And THIS is what I mean when I talk about buying pieces that make a home feel collected.

Not everything has to match.
Not everything has to make sense.
Sometimes you just need one fabulous piece that makes you smile.

Definitely one of the more quirky little finds from this container and very, very Poppi.
