Annie Sloan Country Grey is the best way to lighten natural wood after sanding, creating a beautiful soft, natural finish while allowing the character of the wood to shine through.
A reminder that we can also recover and reupholster your chairs while we are painting your furniture, making it easy to transform an entire piece in one project.

A happy coincidence that Annie Sloan’s latest podcast is all about Antoinette, just as we finished this commission piece last week. Antoinette is such a beautiful grown-up pink — soft, elegant and easy to live with. It adds warmth without overpowering a space and works so well with natural wood and neutrals.

This little cupboard has been part of my life for over 60 years. It was the first thing I saw as I walked into my granny’s little thatch weekend 100 year old farm house on the Vaal River.
I spent every weekend there growing up, and later made more beautiful memories there with my own children, so this vintage cupboard holds so much sentimental value for me.
At the moment it has found a place in the bathroom of my cottage. And knowing me… it may just get painted again one day soon !

Did you know that we can recover your chairs while redoing your furniture? Swipe to see the before pictures — this has been such a beautiful transformation.
I always use Annie Sloan Country Grey as a wash, it gives wood that soft, natural look while still allowing the grain to show through. Reusing what you have is good for our planet 🌿🌿🌿

Annie Sloan French Linen and Old White mixed to create this soft neutral tone, finished with our signature natural wood top. The combination of washed wood and timeless neutrals allows this piece to work beautifully with almost any colour scheme and style of home.

Lots of South Africans have a sleigh bed from Wetherlys bought over twenty years ago — beautiful pieces, but often stuck in their original finish. Here’s how we bring them into the present while keeping them timeless.
We stripped and sanded back all that heavy varnish (no small task!), allowing the natural grain to come through again. Then we used Annie Sloan Country Grey as a soft wash to create that light, natural wood look, before sealing it for durability.
It’s always so satisfying to reuse what we already have — giving a well-made piece a fresh chapter rather than replacing it entirely.

What my little business does so well is to take dated furniture and give it the chance to begin a beautiful new chapter. It’s a process that’s not only environmentally conscious, but also a cost-effective way to transform your space.
This table was carefully stripped and sanded back, allowing the natural character of the wood to shine through. We then applied an Annie Sloan Country Grey wash, creating a soft, timeless finish before sealing it for everyday living.

Another Ball & Claw beauty 🤍 So many South Africans have inherited these sentimental pieces — rich in history, full of character. A fresh update with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint gives them a new chapter, blending heritage with modern living.
