Job Description: Massage Therapist for Nedbank Gravel Burn
Position: Massage Therapist (Contract/Freelance)
Event: Nedbank Gravel Burn (Multi-Day Gravel Cycling Event)
Travel Dates: 24 October – 01 November
Work Days: 25 – 31 October
Location: Event route/sites (accommodation and work locations will vary daily.
Role Overview:
We are seeking experienced and adaptable massage therapists to join our wellness support team at the Nedbank Gravel Burn, a premier multi-stage gravel cycling event. You will provide post-ride recovery massage to athletes in a dynamic, outdoor event environment. This role requires professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a travelling event setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sports/recovery massage to cyclists after each stage.
- Set up and pack down your massage station on moving days (as the event transitions between locations).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional treatment area.
- Work collaboratively with other therapists and event staff.
- Adhere to event schedules and athlete appointment systems.
- Ensure a high standard of client care and professionalism at all times.
Requirements:
- Valid massage therapy certificate/qualification.
- Proven experience working for at least one multi-day/multi-stage sporting event (cycling event experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of basic anatomy and physiology.
- Must have your own portable massage bed/table.
- Must have your own camping gear (sleeping bag, tent, etc.) – accommodations will be camping-based at event sites.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing event conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work long days in an outdoor environment.
- Physically able to handle setup/pack down duties and provide treatments throughout the event.
Logistics Provided by Event:
- Transport during the event dates (24 Oct – 01 Nov).
- Food provided on all days.
- Camping accommodation at event sites.
- Event briefings, schedule, and therapist support.
