πΏTuesday Feature Piece: Antique Wash Stand β A Bathroom Essential from a Bygone Era πΏ
Long before built-in bathrooms and modern vanities, every well-kept home had a wash stand like this one.
β¨ What was it used for? Before indoor plumbing became common, a wash stand held a large water jug and basin on top for washing hands, face, and hair. The cupboard below was used to store towels, soap, brushes, and sometimes even the chamber pot. It was the Victorian and Edwardian version of today's bathroom vanity!
π A Little History In the late 1800s and early 1900s, a morning wash at the wash stand was part of every family's daily routine. Water had to be carried from a pump, well, or kitchen and poured into the basin by hand. A full basin of warm water on a cold winter morning was considered quite a luxury.
π‘ Fun Fact Many wash stands featured decorative tiled backsplashes, just like this beautiful example. The tiles protected the wood from splashes and made cleaning easier. These charming floral tiles were often chosen to add a touch of elegance to an otherwise practical piece of furniture.
β€οΈ Today, antique wash stands are highly sought after as statement pieces. They make stunning bathroom vanities, coffee stations, hallway consoles, or display cabinets while preserving a fascinating piece of household history.

πΏ MONDAY MOTIVATION πΏ
A small business is built one customer, one sale, and one act of kindness at a time.
When you support a small business, you're not helping a CEO buy a bigger yacht β you're helping a family put food on the table, pay school fees, and keep a dream alive.
Let's choose to support local, encourage one another, and celebrate every step forward. Together, we can build stronger businesses and stronger communities.
β¨ "When small businesses support each other, everyone grows."
Have a wonderful week ahead!

Vintage hand-carved Asian souvenir marionettes, most likely from Burma (Myanmar), Thailand, Indonesia, or possibly India, dating somewhere between the 1950s and 1980s. The carved wood, painted details, fabric costumes, string controls, and animal figures are all typical of folk-art puppets made for both traditional puppet theatre and the tourist trade. No names or markings on the puppets.
