A little break in the workshop...

The past week has been a quiet one at the Stoep & Sit workshop. I was away for a few days, so unfortunately there hasn't been much progress on our two Pool Loungers.

But the break is over, and we're ready to get back to work this coming week! 🔨🪵

The components have been cut and prepared, and the predrilling is underway. Next up will be sanding, followed by the finishing process.

We're getting closer to seeing these two loungers come together.

🔨 BUILD UPDATE — EPISODE 3
Predrilling & Preparing for Assembly
The timber has been cut, shaped and prepared, and we’re now moving on to the next important stage of the build — predrilling all the fixing holes.
This is one of those jobs that might not look particularly exciting, but it makes a big difference to the finished piece.
Every hole is carefully positioned and predrilled before the components are eventually brought together. It helps prevent splitting, keeps the fixings accurately positioned and, most importantly, contributes to the clean, solid construction we’re aiming for with every Stoep & Sit piece.
There are a lot of individual components in these two loungers, so there’s still plenty of work ahead.
Next up: sanding. 🪵
Once all the components have been sanded and smoothed, we'll move on to the finishing stage — and that's when the character of the timber really starts to come through.

Cutting Begins 🪚 EPISODE 2

The Pool Lounger Build – Cutting is Underway! 🪚

The timber has arrived, the plans are ready, and now the real work begins!
I’ve started cutting all the timber for the Classic Collection Pool Lounger, and there’s quite a pile of pieces to get through. 😅

Each piece is being cut to the correct dimensions, checked, and kept organised so that when assembly starts, everything is ready to go.

There’s something very satisfying about seeing a pile of timber slowly turn into the individual parts of a piece of furniture.

This is a two-lounger customer order, so there are plenty of cuts to make!

I’ll keep sharing the progress as the build moves along—from cutting and preparation, through assembly and finishing, right up to the final loungers.

From Timber to Pool Lounger 🪵 EPISODE 1

Today we’re starting something a little different at Stoep and Sit.

We’ve received the timber for an order of two Classic Collection Pool Loungers, and I thought it would be fun to share the build with you from start to finish.

Rather than just showing you the finished product, I’m going to take you behind the scenes and show you how these loungers actually come together — from the raw timber arriving at the workshop, through cutting and preparation, assembly, sanding and finishing, right through to the finished loungers ready for their new home.
