Modest Furniture

Model 232 cabinet designed in 1951 by Børge Mogensen and manufactured by C.M. Madsen, Denmark. Later in 1964, Model A232 was added to the collection of FDB Møbler.

The cabinet which is also known as the ‘Chinese Cabinet’ combines a teak veneer casing with a oak base, while the interior is lined in contrasting light birch with adjustable shelves and two dovetail-jointed tray drawers. The doors are finished with circular brass key handles, which double as functional lock keys. This primary nod to its eastern influence is typical of Mogensen's signature. Often he was inspired by traditional furniture and redesigned these with a modernistic approach.

At the back panel retains the original stamp with FDB Møbler stamp and its model number 232.

Two 'Casiopée' pendant lights, in 9 and 7 tiers, designed by French designer Max Sauze around 1970 and manufactured in his own company Max Sauze Studio, France.

In 1968, he founded his company 'Max Sauze Studio' and started to create unconventional lighting by creating geometric compositions built from aluminium stripes mounted on onto fine galvanised steel wire structures. He saw his creations as 'lighting sculptures' instead of conventional lighting.

The two versions are built, respectively, across 9 and 7 tiers of curved aluminium slats set into a cubic wire frame. The curved metal elements conceal the central light source, directing light outward to create a diffused, ambient glow through the lattice pattern.

The lamps remain in good vintage condition with minor signs of age and patina consistent with use.

A rare ‘Panama’ wall lamp, designed by Wim Rietveld for Gispen in the 1950s.

The lamp consists of a white lacquered aluminium lamp shade with the original diffuser and a swivel arm. The multiple joints in the arm create a flexible design that allows the user to choose the best possible position for the lamp. The red key used to adjust the position is missing, but this can also be done with a standard box spanner.

Wim Rietveld, son of architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld, was talented at combining functionality and aesthetics due to his background in industrial design. The 'Panama' wall lamp is one of his most notable designs.

The lamp remains in good condition with only slight traces of use.

Designed by Verner Panton for Rosenthal Studio-Line in the 1970s, this 'Relaxer' rocking chair features a black-lacquered slatted wooden frame with a distinctive curved silhouette. A tan canvas sling supports the removable, channel-tufted cushion, upholstered in original Verner Panton fabric with a multi-colored geometric pattern.

The lacquer shows minor surface scratches and wear consistent with use, particularly along the bottom edges of the rockers. The original fabric displays some localized wear and tearing on the seat cushion.

This BR 02 daybed was designed by Martin Visser in the late 1950s for ’t Spectrum.

By pulling the seat forward, the sofa transitions into a single daybed. This example is a production from the late 1980ties. It includes the loose armrest block (model BA 02).
The frame is made of matt chrome-plated metal.

The daybed has been reupholstered in Camira's sustainable Main Line Flax fabric.
The frame and the conversion mechanism are in proper working order.

M1 Dining Table - Angelo Mangiarotti

This 'M1' dining table was designed by Angelo Mangiarotti in 1969 for the Italian manufacturer Skipper. The piece is crafted from Arabescato marble and features a sculptural design where the round top is perfectly balanced on the conical base through the natural law of gravity.

The table is in very good condition. The original yellowed varnish has been professionally removed, after which the marble was honed and treated with a polished wax for a refined, natural finish. The table comfortably accommodates six chairs.

A pair of 'Monte Carlo' Armchairs

The Monte Carlo armchair was designed by Ingvar Stockum and produced by Futura Möbler in Sweden.

It was produced for a short period between 1965 and 1967, but was then discontinued as it was expensive to manufacture due to its heavy use of solid wood. The range mainly consisted of sofas, and relatively few armchairs were made.

This armchair has a solid rosewood frame and loose cushions.

These examples have been reupholstered in a velvety, raspberry-toned, 100% organic fabric by Mario Sirtori (Collection One). The upholstery features button-tufting on the backrest and armrests.

They are in very good condition with renewed upholstery.

Two 'Diamond' Chairs, designed by Harry Bertoia

The Diamond Chair is part of Bertoia’s 1952 wire collection for Knoll International.
The shell is formed from bent and welded steel rods, creating a geometric grid that provides structure and flexibility.

There are two versions available, one fitted with a full upholstered cover in yellow fabric, adding softness and volume while maintaining the clarity of the original wire structure. The other one has an open construction, giving the chair a light visual presence while maintaining strength.
The angled base supports the curved shell and allows for a relaxed seating position.

The chairs remain in their original vintage condition. The frame shows wear consistent with its age and regular use. As shown in the photos, the upholstery displays some fading and a few stains.
