A little throwback to Hamburg in July

I was invited by KRUPS to host two terrazzo masterclasses, celebrating the launch of their new Crush coffee machine — teaching guests how to make their own terrazzo pieces, chip by chip, colour by colour.

And I didn’t do it alone — my best assistant was my bestie Damaki. We got to spend those days together in Hamburg, walking back through our old student days and all the memories we made there.

Back at HFBK hfbk hamburg - the art school in Hamburg where I studied. Five years of my life happened in this building. Experiments, freedom, joy, all of it. We practically lived here, some nights almost slept here, it really was a second home.

This place raised me in a way, and it changed me completely. We got our hands into everything - wood, metal, ceramic, textile - shaping and reshaping, testing what materials could do and where they’d break. Learning to think critically about every single thing we made, not just how it looked but why it existed at all.

Walking back through these halls today, so much of it came rushing back.

Still grateful for the people I met here, who are still part of my life now, who became my second family.
