We were delighted to once again support Team Rynkeby Oulu on their journey to Paris for an important cause. 💛🚴

In Finland, Team Rynkeby raises funds for the Aamu Suomen Lasten Syöpäsäätiö and Sylva ry, supporting children and young people affected by cancer.

AAMU supports childhood cancer research and the development of better treatments, while Sylva provides psychosocial support for children and young people affected by cancer and their loved ones.

Technology and platforms are only as effective as the networks connecting them.

In March, Bittium submitted written evidence to the UK House of Commons Defence Committee's inquiry into Defence in the High North.

As the only Finnish company to submit evidence to this inquiry, our argument was that success in the High North will depend less on platforms alone but more about the networks that connect them. Distance, extreme climate and a contested electromagnetic spectrum make assured, secure and interoperable communications the foundation of command and control. If communications fail, operational coherence fails.

It identifies degraded communications and Russian jamming and spoofing as key constraints in the region. It asks the Ministry of Defence to assess the command-and-control and cyber-resilience gaps the UK would face if it had to operate in the High North without US support.

The Ministry of Defence's own evidence describes the Maritime Fighting Web, the digital architecture connecting sensors, decision-makers and weapons, as particularly important in the dispersed and contested High North.

With Finland and Sweden now inside NATO, the opportunity is clear: to move from strategic alignment to genuine operational integration with Nordic allies, built on communications that work in the harshest conditions.

On the day the report was published we were proud to co-host a Finland/UK defence reception with the Embassy of Finland in London, with Alex Ballinger MP delivering the keynote. As the UK Government prepares its response, Bittium looks forward to working with the MOD, UK industry and our Nordic partners to build the resilient, interoperable networks that operational success in the High North demands.

Bittium’s Business Review January-September 2026 has been published.

The third quarter of 2026 was excellent for us. Net sales grew 97.8 percent and operating profit further improved, representing 36.0 percent of net sales.

The last quarter of the year is underway and we are consistently keeping our focus on deliveries, profitability and customer relationships. At the same time, our eyes are already firmly set on the year 2027.

Finland and Japan signed a defence equipment and technology agreement on 26 October. Bittium is in Japan with the delegation led by Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen, and Markku Toiviainen is representing us.

Japan has made connected, resilient command and control a priority. We are proud to have this opportunity to share and discuss, where interoperable communications can help most.

Last night, Bittium and the Ambassador of Finland to the UK, Teemu Turunen, hosted the Autumn Reception “Strengthening the UK/Finland Defence Relationship” at the Ambassador’s Residence in London. The house was full. We were joined by UK parliamentarians, representatives of government, the armed forces and industry, and members of the media. The evening exceeded our expectations.

Our thanks to Ambassador Turunen for hosting us in such a fitting setting, and to Alex Ballinger, Member of Parliament for Halesowen, for his address, and Noah Law, Member of Parliament for St Austell & Newquay for joining us.

The UK and Finland are more than friends today. We are partners out of strategic necessity. Defence cooperation has deepened considerably, and the strengths of our two nations complement each other well. Finland brings resilience and preparedness. The UK brings scale, experience and global leadership.

As our CEO Petri Toljamo said in his welcome address, deterrence is not built on platforms alone. What makes forces effective is what connects them: secure communications, resilience and interoperability. Bittium is here as a partner and a listener, and we want to contribute to the UK–Finland relationship for the long term.
