After a short summer hiatus, we are excited to be hosting a fresh Creative Soup session.

Please come and join us for a panel discussion where a group of local young creatives will be talking about their experiences of building a creative business.

Join Ben, Laura and Chlomo from Grain&Groove, local furrier Millie Scott Millie Scott Studio , Andy Boswell of Spirit Furniture and product design student Jamie Cowan Jamie Cowan Makes as they discuss how they are ‘making it’ at the different stages of their creative careers.

From work placements and education to setting up a business, the panel ( led by Lizzie Cowan ) will discuss their experiences and creative practice.

This promises to be an energising discussion with plenty of time for questions too.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance as numbers are limited - link in Steampunk bio.

Summer has come to an end and we find ourselves in the final week of our crowd funder.

We are so excited to take you all along for the journey as we commence the building of our new studio and bring the next chapter of Grain & Groove to life.

Here’s what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next ✨

SHAKER

An exhibition inspired by the American Shaker Movement.

The shaker box ✨

We were first introduced to the Shakers via one of their many marvellous creations, the Shaker box. These wooden, oval shaped boxes were initially used for grain storage but later housed items such as haberdashery.

We had the privilege of learning how to make these boxes with our friend and mentor Cliff. Whilst making our first few, we were fascinated by the fact there is no glue involved in the construction of them. After boiling and bending, they are pinned into shape with copper tacks. Our tacks are manufactured in Michigan on 19th century machinery.

We have became obsessed with making as many different sizes as we can, slotting them inside each other one by one.

Phoebe Rose illustrations sit on top of our boxes with intrigue and delight.

Pop in and say hello to us, Phoebe Rose and studiorosalind at Dr Neil’s Garden, Edinburgh from the 4th until the 13th of September.

One week ago today our fundraiser went live, and we still can’t believe we reached our £10,000 target in just 3 days!

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared and supported us. Because of you, we’re now designing our new workshop at The Pitt and getting closer to opening our doors!

We’ve also extended our target by £5,000, and every extra donation will help us create an even better space for making and teaching.

Thank you for believing in us ❤️
