A Georgian mahogany dwarf press, featuring two base drawers and six slides.

The press box is constructed with cedrela sides, a deal top and bottom, and an exterior top veneered in remarkably figured mahogany. The back is fully paneled.

The slides are crafted from deal, with oak sides and backs.

The lower section is entirely made of deal and veneered, with the drawers constructed from oak and deal bottoms.

All slides and drawer bottoms retain their original blue lining paper.

While some restoration is required, this can be addressed at a later, more convenient time, as the item was acquired for personal use.

They are not rare but harder to find than the larger press, but it's the right size and a great colour.

I am currently engaged in a project involving a distinctive maple veneer, often referred to in the trade as "mulberry," though it is important to note that historically, British-made pieces typically utilized British Field Maple, where this is rippled burr maple from north America/Canada. The finishing process, however, remains the same.

This project necessitates extensive veneer re-laying and ebony replacement. I would particularly like to highlight the exceptional rippled jointing of the veneers, which is a key feature of this work.

Who dosnt like a blocked foot.

I haven't come across a bead molding used on a dust board before. Plus, these are quite unusual, being thick without having glue under supports.

I am seeking information regarding a specific bed, Lot 366, featured on page 38 of Christie's auction catalog from October 13, 1984: "Highly Important American Furniture from the collection of Dr. C. Ray Franklin." My interest is not in acquisition, but rather in obtaining contemporary photographs of the bed for ongoing research into rare Philadelphia Colonial tall post beds, particularly those crafted by British immigrant cabinetmakers and carvers.

Furthermore, I would appreciate the opportunity to view any Philadelphia mahogany tall post beds manufactured between 1760 and 1775, with or without carved showwood or decorative fabric canopies.

Following a meticulous restoration and a gentle revival, the initial three photographs depict the chair's condition prior to treatment, with subsequent images illustrating its enhanced appearance after a thorough beeswax polish applied by Mrs. G.

From a dry and died flat finish this very rare mahogany windsor has after some restoration work has come back to life with just hard beeswax.

This is a Windsor chair model I have not seen in the flesh before, but the turning to the crinoline stretcher and the cross stretcher to the back legs is very unusual. From a restorer who has restored may a Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire windsors this one shows very high skills of the turner.

On Friday, a Windsor chair from Themes Valley, discovered by MrsG at Newark Antiques & Interiors was acquired on behalf of a good friend, and subsequently collected yesterday. While it appears to be a typical Rhemes Valley model of a windsor chair made between 1750s-1780s, its unique use of solid mahogany immediately distinguished it as the most exceptionally rare example I have encountered.
And would after a little tlc it will come back to life again
