BlackCat Workshop Unique wooden products. Please view posts for info, items made, contact details etc. Most products are made to order, lead times not long!!

BlackCat Workshop is a small woodworking business based near Stamford Bridge, York. Run by Neil 'Sid' Porteus, using over 30 years experience of making most things wooden! The business has/is constantly having to change due to countless issues! From a fire in 2016, through Covid 19 and CofL turmoil and in Jan 2025 suffering a stroke and battling to keep operating...

I'm now mainly specialising in smaller woodwork projects that can be made in my workshop. Please check my posts for updates, products made, prices etc. I'm not a stockist, items are mainly made to order but i do try to keep some smaller items in stock. Bespoke job enquiries will always be considered but I don't have access to many types of wood and have limited tools so unfortunately some jobs can't be taken on. Never any harm in asking though!

I'm working on a few new bits which will be coming over the next few weeks too

I know the forecast is horrible over the weekend but I WILL be open, the workshop is dry, you can park right outside the door, I might even have a few free Robins to cheer you up! 😮

There's plenty of unique things on the shelves to buy or get ideas from and there's also still a tiny amount of Halloween decorations left.
● I'll be opening slightly later on Sunday due to a delivery going out but I should be open 11.30am-3pm.

Two 'Viking' chairs finished this morning,
still popular with people looking for something a little bit different even in a world saturated with imported plastic Ra££an junk! The seat in pic no3 is kept on display to try out if you're curious?

I'm open Saturday 9.30am-3pm with various Halloween objects available and other unique delights on the shelves!
Please remember I'm closed all day Sunday due to the marathon / road closure.

In times of 'everything HAS to be sold/bought online' each of these has been picked out by very lovely people actually calling in to the workshop. ❤️
All made from scraps of reclaimed wood, no cnc's, lasers, computers...
