SHIRO KURAMATA × PASTOE — A101, 1986

A rare and iconic umbrella stand designed by Shiro Kuramata for Pastoe, The Netherlands, 1986.

A beautiful example of Kuramata's ability to turn an everyday functional object into a sculptural design piece. The striking black structure and chrome ring create an almost floating composition.

This example retains its original construction and finish, with authentic signs of age and use, including some scratches and minor corrosion. These traces are part of its history and reflect its original function as an umbrella stand.

The original silver-coloured Pastoe identification sticker is no longer present.

We have carefully compared this piece with a documented original Pastoe example and the construction, proportions and details correspond exactly to the Pastoe A101 production.

RIP Yayoi Kusama : 1929 – 2026 💔😢🙏🕯

Today we learned that Yayoi Kusama passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 97.

As collectors of her work, we feel grateful to have a small part of her extraordinary artistic legacy.

Thank you for the inspiration, the imagination, the endless dots and Infinity.
