After Midnight Radio Chatter
This incident took place just south of Cedar Keys Florida. Myself and Jimmy Parker had worked a couple nights and had did good. Ice was low and I wanted to make a couple more nights but needed some ice
Donald Collins was coming out that next evening so I called him and ask if he could bring us 10 or 12 baskets of ice to make another night. He agreed when I told him how many we had and where we were. It was real foggy that evening and Jimmy and I were tied stern to stern waiting on Donald
He got to us and we rearranged our boats to get the ice. It was about to get dark and we were in a hurry
Low and behold guess who decided to pay us a visit? No other than the Yankeetown coast guard
They pulled up to us in high suspension we were transferring something else
Red Allert, they had us surrounded. Finally they recognized us and calmed down. We explained that we were only transferring ice. They had to check all of us and we ask if they could do a quick check. Jimmy ask one of them if they liked shrimp , they said they did but weren't allowed to take any. They were about to leave and jimmy had about 15 pounds in a bag and he tossed it in their boat while they were backing away from us. They didn't bring them back so I dont know what they did but I suspect somebody had a shrimp boil. It was funny after it was all over. They thought they had stumbled on a drug deal. We three were probably the least likely ones in the gulf that was be messing with that stuff. Just another bump in the road but we leveled it out. We were blessed to had a really good trip there in Waccasassa Bay. We were roller frame sh*****ng. They are a contraption that resembled a piece of farm equipment with a net tied on it. We pulled 4 of them 16 foot wide. We nick named them scrap iron. But they really worked well.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It's been a extremely busy day getting ready for this storm. It reminds me of two hurricanes I weathered out way up the Apalachicola river and one in Venice Louisiana. It is a lot of work getting everything secured. Thank you all I really don't know how I got this old. Only by the grace of God is my only explanation.
Here is a little clip of some of the preparations.

UPDATE AS OF 9/30/26
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 10TH!

Due to the unfavorable weather conditions expected this weekend, Olde Time Days has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 10, 2026, same time, same place at Bicentennial Park!

We announced yesterday that the Olde Time Days event for this year would move forward rain or shine; however, we have made the decision to reschedule the event. This decision was made due to the updated National Weather Service forecast showing a substantial rise in rain coverage and expected rainfall amounts that would directly impact event safety and operations.

While some vendors had prior commitments for the weekend of the 10th, our team is working hard to bring you the same great experience you look forward to every year.
Stay tuned to our social media pages for updates on entertainment and stage lineup, kids’ activities, and more. We appreciate your understanding and can’t wait to see everyone next Saturday!

After Midnight Radio Chatter

We got her out of the creek and to Aquila Seafood dock for ice and other supplies this week. Finally got out to see if Murphys law was going to apply. Well it did. Before we left we had to locate a new 30 foot long temperature gage for main engine with built in alarm system. With the help of Miss Karen at Aquila Seafood she got us one overnight. We installed it and left To go seek our fortune LOL. Murphys Law was right on time. We had to make up new lazy lines and I cut the ropes too short to start with. We had to adjust our bib lines on our nets 3 times also. First drag had a tailback get wrapped around turtle excluder on one side. That side was on catch and release duty. The next drag the other net did the same. We just dropped anchor and went to bed. Next day I fixed my favorite supper of fried pork chops with potatoes and onions cooked in an old Dutch oven and Margret Holmes brand turnip greens cooked down in about a tablespoon of the oil from the pork chops. Supper was the best and most successful part of those 2 nights. Second night started out with a twisted net loosing one side second drag same on other side. I decided if anything happened on our 3rd drag we going back to the dock. Murphy showed up again! Broke a bib line on one side and a stump on the other. We cleaned out nets put it all away on deck and went back to anchor for a nap before we went to the dock. We will look at this all again next week. My motto is if you don't go you don't know, so we went. A new one I might add is, it will get worse or better. Such is the days in the sh*****ng business.
