Social-emotional learning programs have been linked to an 11 percentile-point gain in academic achievement compared to students without similar support, according to a meta-analysis of over 270,000 students.
Spaces like this one give kids a place to put those skills into practice — a low-stimulation area to self-regulate, reset, and return to learning with a clearer mind. Research also links calming and wellness spaces in schools to fewer behavioral incidents and better classroom engagement.

Flexibility in classroom design is about more than novel desk shapes — it's about how those pieces work together as a system.
At Lone Star Elementary School in Montgomery Independent School District, traditional rectangular desks and curved tabletops are designed to combine into multiple configurations depending on the day's lesson, while mobile storage keeps the room adaptable instead of static. Together, they give teachers room to move and present from anywhere in the space.
This isn't just aesthetic. Research on classroom design has found that layout and flexibility can account for as much as a 25 percent impact on student achievement, with flexible, easily reconfigurable layouts identified as one of the few design factors with a measurable effect on learning outcomes.

It’s easy to look at a school and only see the curriculum, the state tests, and the graduation goals. But for the students, campus is their primary social hub. It's where they learn to navigate relationships, work in teams, and figure out who they are.
If school is a "process of living," the physical environment has to support that everyday reality. Outfitting a school goes way beyond just finding a place for kids to sit. It’s about building environments where they feel comfortable, where they can collaborate easily, and where they actually want to spend their time.

Could you rearrange your whole classroom in under 5 minutes — alone? With the right furniture, you could. Every table, shelf, and seat here is on wheels or light enough to move solo, so the room adapts to the lesson instead of the other way around.

Proud to have outfitted classrooms at Bright Academy (Frisco ISD)
Their own Campus Accountability Report backs up why it matters. It credits flexible, student-centered learning spaces as key to student engagement, with 87% of students and 84% of parents rating the school "excellent" or "good," plus strong marks for safety and future-readiness.

CTE in action across Texas!
From hospital beds in a healthcare simulation lab, to robotics teams building for competition, to a fully equipped maker space, a broadcast studio ready for air, and an e-sports arena built for competitive play — Career and Technical Education programs across the state are giving students real hands-on experience in the fields they're headed toward.
So much talent, so many paths. Proud to help equip spaces like these throughout Texas.

"The consultation and support at each step of the way through design, procurement, and install has been a great experience."
— Holly Lyon, Superintendent, Goliad Independent School District
Goliad Middle School's new campus is outfitted top to bottom with furniture built for the way students and teachers actually use each space. Smith System butcher block tables and stools bring durability and flexibility to collaborative work, Sico tables bring the school branding and mobility to the cafeteria, Fleetwood Furniture mobile shelving keeps the library organized and adaptable, VSAmerica,Inc chairs paired with MooreCo Inc desks outfit classrooms throughout, and Fomcore lounge seating gives students a comfortable spot to unwind.
Thank you to Holly Lyon and the entire Goliad ISD team for trusting Brooks and Lone Star Furnishings with this project from start to finish. We're proud of what we built together.

The Yellow Jackets are back in the building in Denison ISD today!
B. McDaniel Intermediate's new spaces were designed to feel like home, right down to the color palette. Fomcore soft seating throughout the building picks up on the school's black and yellow, paired with custom branded floor mats at key entry points that carry that identity through the building.
The furniture was also built to work with the space itself, not just sit in it. The under-stair lounge area makes use of a spot that could've gone unused, and the seating by the windows flows naturally out toward the courtyard, tying the indoor and outdoor areas together. We were proud to help furnish both, from the interior lounges to the courtyard seating outside.
Welcome back, Yellow Jackets.

Not much longer now.
In just a few weeks, spaces like this one will be full of students again — reading in the pods, gathering around the tables, making this space theirs.
We're proud to have been part of so many Texas school districts' growth this summer, and we can't wait to see these new learning spaces put to use. Here's to a great year ahead.
