The Habitability Pyramid breaks it into three levels:
▪ Physical comfort: the baseline. Somewhere to sit, a surface to work on.

▪ Functional comfort: the right number of seats, the right surfaces, clear paths to move.

▪ Psychological comfort: a room that feels intentionally designed around the people who use it.

Most spaces stop at the first or second level. Getting to the top comes down to flexibility and ownership: furniture that moves easily, the freedom to arrange it, and secure storage so teachers feel like homemakers, not temporary tenants.

That’s how our team (an Educational Furniture Consultant, an Interior Designer, and a Project Coordinator) approaches every room: all three levels, working directly with educators.

16.7% of Texas public school students received special education services this year, up from 15.5% the year before, and growth has been accelerating for years. At the same time, Texas just overhauled how special education funding works, shifting from room-based funding to service-intensity-based funding starting this school year.
