Happy Halloween 🎃 Shop is open today from 9-2pm, as usual. Yes the vintage pumpkin is for sale. There’s also vintage Santas available still too ($25ea)

I wish someone would take some of the scrap wood that I end up throwing away and make these instead 🤔

An interesting piece of local history. Not your usual generic milk can, this one belonged to the Golden State Company, Ltd. (originally Golden State Milk Products), a major California dairy and creamery organization formed through early 20th-century mergers of regional dairies.

The company merged with Foremost Diaries in 1954. Apparently the plant in Sacramento was downtown and close to the blue diamond plant.

Anyone remember golden state or seen any other memorabilia?

The can is available for sale at the shop

New arrivals 🚨 Vintage galvanized tin restock. Not a ton, only about 60 sheets but some nice 6’, 7’ and 8’ footers. I have plenty of shorter stuff, 3-4’ footers too, if you’re looking for that. Usually sells fast so come by Saturdays 9-2pm

Vintage galvanized tin restock, sells fast, dm for details

New arrivals 🚨A set of modern 8’ tall doors, width of the pair is 60” and it’s dual pane insulated glass. Solid wood, very heavy. The doorframe is included although it’s all disassembled. DM for details or price.

I find it strange but I get so many requests for 8’ tall doors but in the last 11 years, I’ve gone through maybe 1000 doors and I’ve only ever found one pair of truly vintage 8’ tall doors. 8’ tall doors are more of a modern thing with the vaulted ceiling entrance of today’s custom tract homes.

Also picked up a pair of 1900’s redwood five panel doors from the historic downtown Folsom area.

New arrivals 🚨I’ll be posting more on this but I found the mother of all, where did that come from? doors with provenance and a real piece of Fair Oaks history. Dates to 1900, the Victorian in the last picture. The property has been all split up and the house was moved to its current location and completely renovated in 2012. These doors ended up stored in the carriage house in the first picture which supposedly is the oldest remaining original structure in Fair Oaks.

Here’s the sac bee write up on the property the last time is was up for sale

You know how I feel about modern stuff but we do always have a few useful things floating around here at the shop. For example, complete and functioning front door locksets. One of these is Bluetooth controlled and the other is programmable. $100 each. Save a ton off big box retail and reduce, reuse and recycle, still the name of the game.

Couple of somewhat out of place items in the shop 😆

First up is a 1970’s custom made teak coffee table. I guess you could call it an MCM style. All I know is that it measures 32x66 (18h) and I don’t have room for it at the shop. Priced to sell at $99. It’d be impossible to have this made for that price!

Second item is a sliding barn door. It’s probably from Costco or some big box store. Seems to be pine, solidly built. Barn door hardware all included. Measures 36x84. Priced to sell at $149
