An important update from Highland BlindCraft Beds and Highland BlindCraft Sensory Services 💜

You may have seen Highland BlindCraft in the news over the last few days, and we felt it was important that you heard from us too. It’s no secret that things are difficult for many businesses and organisations just now, and unfortunately we’re no different. Rising costs and no uplift in funding have meant management and the board of directors have had to make some incredibly difficult decisions, including reducing the size of our team.

These are decisions that have affected people we work alongside every day, and they haven’t been made lightly. But we also want to reassure you of something really important Highland BlindCraft is still here, and we’re very much open for business!

Our team is still in our Inverness workshop making beds and mattresses, our showroom is open, orders are going out the door. And our Sensory Services team continues to support service users and their families across the Highlands and Western Isles.

Since 1881, Highland BlindCraft has been part of this community, we've been here through plenty of change over those 145 years, and we want to be here for many, many more. We’ve already received some incredibly kind messages asking how people can support us. The answer is simple: shop with us. If you need a new bed or mattress, come and see us. If you don't need one just now, recommend us to someone who does. Share our posts - tell your friends and family. And if you run a hotel, B&B, holiday let or local business, please keep us in mind when you next need beds or mattresses.

There are difficult days behind us and undoubtedly challenges still ahead, but there is also a team here who care enormously about the future of Highland BlindCraft.

Highland Business Women Awards 2026 🏆

What a brilliant evening celebrating businesses, organisations and people from across the Highlands! We were incredibly proud to be shortlisted for Team of the Year, alongside some fantastic organisations and some familiar friends, including Highland Coast Hotels and Mikeysline.

This nomination was particularly special to us because it recognised Highland BlindCraft as one team. Our Beds and Sensory Services teams deliver very different services, but we come together with the same purpose and the same commitment to making a difference in the communities we serve. 💙

A huge congratulations to Highland Coast Hotels, who took home the award! We’re especially delighted for their team as we’re proud to supply beds and mattresses to their hotels throughout the Highlands.

Being recognised as a finalist means a great deal to us and, most importantly, it’s recognition for the wonderful people across Highland BlindCraft and the work they put in every single day.

Congratulations to all this year’s finalists and winners, and a huge thank you to everyone behind the Highland Business Women Awards for another fantastic event.

We’ve heard this a few times lately, so we thought it was time for a little reminder… we’re still here! 👋

While other Blindcrafts across the country have sadly closed their doors, Highland BlindCraft is very much open and continuing to offer handcrafted beds, mattresses, headboards, furniture and more.

We’re not on the high street, but we do have parking right outside - and there’s plenty to discover in our showroom.

So, if you haven’t visited us in a while, or thought we were no longer here, pop in and see what we have to offer!

We're delighted to see No.48 Ardconnel Street begin an exciting new chapter under new ownership! 🗝

As long-standing customers of Highland BlindCraft, it was a pleasure to supply new handcrafted beds and mattresses as the new owners refreshed the accommodation, ready to welcome their guests. A special mention goes to our talented seamstress, Iva of Iva did this, who handcrafted the beautiful Brodick tartan bed runners and matching cushions, adding the perfect finishing touch to each room.

We wish everyone at No.48 every success in this exciting new chapter and hope every guest enjoys a fantastic night's sleep.
