Finished off one of two dressing rooms today.

It’s been a bit backwards and forwards on site over the last couple of weeks with loads going on, so really happy to finally get this one wrapped up.

Häfele Matrix runners, ironmongery and fixings throughout the whole unit, along with the LED lighting. I absolutely love the seamless 4mm x 10mm LED strips — such a clean finish once they’re installed.

Finsa Sense Natur Walnut throughout, bookmatched all the way around so the grain flows nicely from section to section, then finished in Osmo oil.

Really pleased with how this room has come together.

Cinema room is almost complete!

Really happy with this floating fluted walnut unit we fitted today. All the hinges, ironmongery and handles are from Häfele, along with all the LED lighting throughout the unit.

The LEDs work on sensors and can also change colours, which looks unreal in the cinema room and really finishes the whole unit off.

I’m so happy with how everything has come together. Just got to cut the carpet in, glue it down and finish off a few final little snags, then this one is DONE!

A simple little trick for adjusting the height of the edging application.

I wanted to keep the edging perfectly flush with the solid walnut fluted panels, so I simply slid in a 3mm packer — and it brought up the edging perfectly in line.

Sometimes the simplest solutions work best!

Love using the Festool conturo

Had to pull off site today to get a few bits done in the workshop, as well as being around for the kids.

Managed to squeeze in a bit of work on my own cinema room — making this floating fluted walnut unit.

A nice combination of different processes on this one: using the 3D printer to make the formers for the curves, Surface Studio fluted walnut panels for the finish, and the Shaper Origin to cut all the curved sections.

Still a little bit more to do, then I’m going to add some colour with Rubio Monocoat and get it oiled up ready for the weekend.

Nice to actually get a bit of time on one of my own projects for a change!

Nice to have this one completely finished and installed in a day.

So pleased with how it’s all come together. The client has done such a cool job with this room — the colours, furniture and styling all work so well, and I think this walnut unit really makes the whole room pop.

It’s always a great feeling seeing something go from the workshop to completely finished and in its new home.

Looking forward to a slightly easier day tomorrow before getting stuck back into some of the other projects we’ve got going on.

Crazy productive day today!

Managed to get two coats of Osmo Oil on this walnut bookcase, with a light 320-grit sand between coats.

The warm weather definitely gave me an advantage with the drying times, meaning I could get both coats on and have it ready to install tomorrow.

Super excited to get this one fitted and see it all come together. Watch out for some cool videos and pictures of the finished result!

I am genuinely a little obsessed with this unit!!

A few finishing touches on this latest build.

I’ve been using the fairly new Häfele Metalla 540 hinges on this project and I’m really impressed with them. They feel great, there’s plenty of adjustment to get everything sitting absolutely spot on, and just look at that beautiful finish.

It’s a small detail, but against the lighter timber it really sets the unit off and gives the hardware a proper premium feel.

I’m also using Häfele push-to-open catches throughout, keeping everything completely handleless for that clean, seamless look, along with Häfele Axilo feet underneath to make levelling and adjustment nice and straightforward on site.

Pretty much all of my fixtures and fittings come from Häfele. It’s those little details behind the scenes that make such a difference to the finished piece.

This one just needs to be oiled and then, hopefully, we’ll be getting it fitted towards the end of this week. Can’t wait to see it in place.

I had a few questions about how I’m joining these fluted walnut panels on the bookcase I’m building at the moment.

I’m using Lamello Clamex connectors to pull the top radius sections tightly into the vertical cappings.

By working from right to left, I can slide each panel into position one at a time, then simply use the Allen key to tighten the Clamex and pull everything together.

It gives me a really clean, perfectly tight joint and, most importantly, keeps everything lined up so it looks like that walnut grain just flows all the way through.

Simple technique, incredibly strong, and it makes the assembly so much easier.

This week’s build has been an absolute pleasure to work on. These stunning fluted walnut panels from Surface Studio have completely transformed this project.

What better way to machine them than with the Shaper Origin? It allowed me to offset every cut perfectly, keeping all of the edging flush with the walnut fluting for a really clean, seamless finish.

Everything has been assembled using a combination of Dominos and Lamellos to keep it solid and accurate. All that’s left now is a final sand and a couple of coats of oil before it’s ready for installation.

And yes, we still use an iron for certain edging applications!!

I can’t wait to see this one fitted in its new home.
